UTLive v1.2.0.0 for P3D v5

Featured Replies

Where can I find this software and install it?

Thanks

How does Moses make his coffee? Hebrews it.

I took the shell off my racing snail, thinking it would make him run faster. If anything, that made him more sluggish.

Thanks. I tried this yesterday, but it still didn't work.

I appreciate you getting back to me.

I had an UTL 1.2 installed on Prepar3D v4 and just copy the \utLive direction with it's add-on.xml on my \Documents\Prepar3D v5 Add-ons and... it seems to be ok so far 😉

Obviously not supported by Flight1. Let's get them focus on the promise UTL v2.

Yes, I can see on the https://fselite.net/prepar3d-v5-compatibility/utilities/ area.  However, I will explain where I am:

  1. I info I got was to install utLive onto the same drive as P3Dv5, so I have.
  2. It explains to edit the C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\simobjects.cfg
  3. At the end of the file, you specify the new entry (that is assuming that the last entry was 9, simply add an entry number on):
    [Entry.10]
    Title=utLive
    PATH=E:\Ultimate Traffic Live\utLive Aircraft
    Active=true
    Required=true
  4. When you start up P3Dv5, see if it works.  In my case, there are still no addons - still no UTL.

Steps 2 and 3 just say to Prepar3D "Please use this bunch of plane which are at this path" via the Simobjects.cfg direct modification. But you also need to tell your sim "Hey, please start the UTLive program". I suggest you do it via an add-on.xml files which should integrate this section (for example) :

  <AddOn.Component>
    <Category>EXE</Category>
    <Path>C:\PROGRAM FILES\FLIGHT ONE SOFTWARE\ULTIMATE TRAFFIC LIVE\utl_client.exe</Path>
  </AddOn.Component>

But you can do the Simobject definition + the utlive program launch, just by using an add-on.xml file with the two components, like this one :

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="AddOnXml" version="4,0" id="add-on">
  <AddOn.Name>Ultimate Traffic Live</AddOn.Name>
  <AddOn.Description>Real, scheduled, commercial ai aircraft traffic, for support please visit www.flight1.com</AddOn.Description>
  <AddOn.Component>
    <Category>EXE</Category>
    <Path>C:\PROGRAM FILES\FLIGHT ONE SOFTWARE\ULTIMATE TRAFFIC LIVE\utl_client.exe</Path>
  </AddOn.Component>
  <AddOn.Component>
    <Category>SimObjects</Category>
    <Path>C:\PROGRAM FILES\FLIGHT ONE SOFTWARE\ULTIMATE TRAFFIC LIVE\utLive Aircraft</Path>
  </AddOn.Component>
</SimBase.Document>

By the way, the previous add-on.xml is the one installed by a correct installation in the Prepar3D Add-ons directory you used during the installation.

Put the previous-like example add-on.xml file in your c:\users\<your name>\Documents\Prepar3D v5 Add-ons\utlive directory or (again) : "I had an UTL 1.2 installed on Prepar3D v4 and just copy the \utLive direction with it's add-on.xml on my \Documents\Prepar3D v5 Add-ons"

PS : It's also what is explained on the link found on FSElite table https://ultimatetraffic.flight1.net/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=18316&title=closedp3d-v5

I have found no such file with that name.  Prepar3d v5 and Ultimate Traffic Live are on the E drive, the only one on the C drive is C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\scenery_add-ons.xml, which is clearly the wrong file.

I can start with you helping me finding that xml file.
Thanks

I don't understand. Have you installed UTLive 1.2.0 ? If yes, you should have in your Documents folder an UTlive directory. In it, you'll find an add-on.xml

Documents folder an UTlive directory

The only file that comes up when I do a search over the C and E drives similar to your add-on file is
C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\scenery_add-ons.xml

It is a full search of the drives, and is the only file (except to note that is has the text "scenery_" before "add-ons.xml".

There is no file exactly with that name, or even similarly to it.  Can I also point out that I have not installed any 3rd-party scenery or aircraft.

Call me back when you're ready to answer the question in the previous post 😉

Sorry - firstly Prepar3d v5 was installed on E drive
Then I installed Ultimate Traffic Live 1.2.0.0, also onto the E drive.  In this folders in there are

  • Imagery
  • SimConnect
  • Uninstall
  • utLive Aircraft (this has 99 subfolders)

Looks like a strange UTL installation. You should also have the UTL program, by default in C:\PROGRAM FILES\FLIGHT ONE SOFTWARE\ULTIMATE TRAFFIC LIVE\

I suggest you start again correctly the installation of the UTL program, if you have issue, Flight1 support/forum is the place to be.

I have tried uninstalled/reinstalled it a few times. I have been pulling my hair out and trying small changes, usually including a re-install (uninstall first).

The reason I put UTL where you said was that I read somewhere that you should not put it in the default Program Files.  It's late now, and I'm giving in for the night, but I will do whatt you last said for me to do and test it out.

Thanks for trying to help me.  Before I speak to you again, just to show you the UTL directory contains the files before, but as I said, I will uninstall it tomorrow.

Hi

Do you actually need p3d 4 installed or can you just install into a p3dv4 dummy directory then port across to p3dv5, maybe aic is a better option until something comes out for v5

Thanks wayne
