Well my dell 2709 Flat screen finally blew out after about 9 years.  Thus my budget will be 400.00 - 500.00.  My new setup nividia 2080

I plan going with 1440 resolution 16x9. 32"

Is response rate a need for fsx ? I plan on going with #4

Also, should I stay with a flat screen ? Here all this good stuff about curved monitors

Finally, leaning towards Samsung, any suggestions welcomed, or any other competitors

Hi Ronny,

There was a similar thread about 32" monitors a few days ago:

The curved Dell 32" looked like a good option based on this thread/discussion:

2560x1440 @ 165Hz, FreeSync 2 HDR: 48-165Hz:

I personally have an 32" Asus PB328Q also capable of 1440 resolution and am very pleased with it. Had for about 2 years now and still going strong. Its an appreciable step up from the old 27" monitor I had.

4ms response rate should be fine. Re curved, its down to matter of personal taste I guess. If you consider one, I would suggest buy from a vendor with a no hassle returns policy just in case you don't enjoy the experience.

Good luck on your search/purchase.

Regards
Mark

Just my 2 cents but take a look at a 34" ultrawide. They are awesome for flight sims.

My 55" 4k TV has amazing HDR so I know what you mean, but getting a wide screen monitor with good HDR is hard to come by last I checked.

I have a 38" ultrawide and I would love for someone to come out with a 42" w/ HDR and a better response time. And high resolution, (because I know someone will mention the 49"). I would buy it tomorrow. I can only imagine the cost...

Regarding a HDR capable TV and the HDR feature in P3D. I don’t believe the latter requires the former. I could be wrong but HDR is usually enabled on UHD/4K Blu-Ray disks and increases bright areas considerably.

HDR can be enabled in P3D and even v3 had it. It still works on a monitor that isn’t HDR enabled.

This is true, however IF your monitor or in most cases currently your 4K HDR TV, the HDR will be much more vibrant if you have great blacks and a high NIT rating, which most monitors don't currently have. Once in a while I will fly on my 4k HDR TV and the sunsets are absolutely incredible. I think the monitors will get there but it is taking more time than I would have expected.

- LG 38WN95C HDR 600 NANO IPS 21:9 3840*1600                                    This is almost perfect just wish it was a little bigger I'm thinking a 40-42" ultrawide would be perfect.

- The best : LG OLED 48CX ( this is my next for this sim 😉 )                        This would be good if you don't want the wide screen.

- Samsung QE49q70 or q80T  if you want qled 🙂                                           This is too wide it will stretch the panels way too much. However if you dont fly VC it would be fine.                                                                                                                                                                                                              I have actually tried this monitor, it was setup at fry's electronics one day.
