6GB (4GB?) Video Card Users - These settings could help

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have seen some posts about users with less than 8gb video cards -

See if this strategy works.

You do need Windows 10 2004 build (it is coming soon) - just try it with what you have.

HT on or off -- that is up to you -  I saw blurries with HT on my end.  So I turned it off.  I have 6 cores anyway.

Req Enable HIGH_RESOLUTION_TERRAIN_TEXTURES=1 in Settings (make sure to click it and thats it)

Req TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=10 (you could try 9 also) - this goes in [TERRAIN]

Req LOD_RADIUS=2.500000 (Small LOD) - Yes 2.5

See my previous thread regarding this with 8gb cards

Thanks mate. I have a GTX 1060 6Gb which I am very happy with. I've done a bit of testing in v5 and haven't gone above 4Gb of VRam to date. However I want to enjoy my flight without keep monitoring VRam levels so 4.5 will be be main sim until the new 3000 cards come out I think. In the meantime, I'll give your tweaks a try.

cheers

Just try the tweaks - all the other settings are listed in the other thread - use the part 2 thread for settings.  I am not even watching VRAM usage now, VRAM consumption is very different from PC memory usage - they have completely different speeds etc

Will do, thanks again.

Using my settings I had a load of 3,3GIG VRAM

LOD 2.5 + TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=10 killed my poor GPU going instantly in DXGI and over 3,8Gig VRAM

LOD 2.5 only (removing T_S_E=10) took me down to 2.8GIG which is nice

use 2.5 and just click on Hi res textures (that is setting of 9 anyway) - 512 textures.

10 uses 1024 textures.  I had a hunch that 10 will not work with 6gb card

Atleast you can use with lod 2.5 and hi-res textures.

LOD 2.5 + TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=9 and make sure Hi res textures is clicked also in GUI
