As I said in the other forum with an X in its name I tried some X-Plane 8 to get over my FS-X blues and I was pleasantly suprised. The biggest plus that X-Plane development has in my opinion is focus. Because its made by a small team there is a strong focus on how things are accomplished. It can also be a weak point because the will of Austin is law so if he decides to throw something out make a change that has a large impact on older aircraft he just does it...As a recent user of X-Plane I was amazed by the detailed highres landtextures and the fluid flightmodel.

Very well said. X-plane looks better everytime I see it. There are pros and cons to both sims and there is nothing wrong with owning both. (or all three). Each one has something different to offer.Ian.

I agree!! FSX looks FAR better stock!James

Your assumptions are incorrect. In a year it will look better and run better with hardware of the time.Nobody is listening when I say that next gen cards and a boost in RAM will DRAMATICALLY increase FSX's performance. Hey, I'll get back to you in a year to say I told you so!James

Oh, so Ultimate Terrain covers the entire Earth, does it? If not then your point is moot. All this BS about how FS9 with a million dollars worth of addons looks better than FSX is making me laugh. Don't you guys have something better to do with your spare time?James

ROFL!!!I tried the latest version of X-Plane recently and was appalled at how awful it looked! The autogen looks repetitive and crap (sorry austin, just being honest), and kills my framerates! The mesh is pretty bad as well, as are the textures. Now I KNOW most people in these forums agree with me.James

As far as I concerned, we have along way to go..with fsx..to catch up to FS9. I have a bloated fs9 installation..I mean if it crashed today...hmmm It would take a while to get it tweaked the way it was. But I know for a fact and I will post sceenshots,, to show the difference ...that there are a great many gaps till fill w/fsx to catch up to FS9. With my present set up, I enjoyed flying from my hometown to Montreal(with the addon scenery ) and it is quite a site....realistic..with that in mind, with fsx..wondering if all these addons will work..wether they do or not..there is still a great deal of catching up to do..before add ons are available to make FSX as good as it gets ..compared to FS9.Out of the box FSX deluxe edition cannot deliver what I was enjoying with fs9. For $90.00 Canadian...I hope some cheap addons come along to make it 'the same experience ' as fs9.That being said..now I will try some of the tweaks..I tried them all in FS9 and ended up satisfied..not a big machine besides. But this is my 2 cents we have a long way to go.BTW not that many 'immpreesive screenies comung out of fsx , now..specially around big cities..Barbados ..grantley adams.FSX canot compare to FS9 scenery wise !Mike

Keeping auto-gen to a minimum on both sims, maintains the fluid motion I want. L.Adamson

Why I don't fly X-Plane...because I can't get off the friggin' runway!XPlane2.jpgXPlane4.jpgNice Autogen - right on my runway...LOL!

I swear it didn't look like that on my comp!!!Oh well. My computer still chugged when I maxxed out the settings on it, in fact it chugged as much as maxing out the settings on FSX! And I believe FSX looks better.James

And the ground textures leave a bit to be desired. The appearance of the autogen in FSX is lightyears beyond that of X-Plane's autogen, as well.James

Don't you guys have something better to do with your spare time?MS a really excited user coming to troll? Yeah, we have somthing better to do than to waste our hard earned money trying to make this version live up to its claims. Unless you have a special secret you're keeping from all of us?
