June 15, 20205 yr With my current settings it never went over 5.4/6.8. When i fly into the new T.E. region from So.Cal to TE N/Cal to KSFO from KCRQ, it slowly increases until im on final to KSFO and i get the dreaded devise Hung error and my Vram goes to 6.4. Does TE use that much more Vram? Thanks Ed Windows 11 PRO-AMD RYZEN 9 9950X3D-MSI MAG X870E TOMAHAWK-NVIDIA RTX 5080 16GB-64GB GSKILL 6000-2TB NVMe-1050PSU- It goes to Eleven! Si ATC. June 15, 20205 yr Sure, why wouldn't it? You could try upgrading to W10 2004 and get a bit more VRAM space for V5. Or lower your textures to 1024 and/or turn off EA if you aren't doing those things already.
June 15, 20205 yr You have to compensate with an 8 GB GPU. There are so many objects in TE, plus the ground photo scenery already loading up the GPU. Adding EA, shadows, AI aircraft, external weather is going to be demanding on VRAM use. And that's before including the complex user aircraft and any payware airport scenery with higher resolution textures. To get this (QW787 into AS EGLL over TE GB London): I had to do this: AMD Ryzen 5800X3D; MSI RTX 3080 Ti ; 32GB Corsair 3200 MHz; ASUS VG35VQ 35" (3440 x 1440) Fulcrum One yoke; Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack Airbus edition; MFG Crosswind rudder pedals; miniCockpit FCU; CPFlight MCP 737; Logitech FIP x3; TrackIR MSFS; Fenix A320; A2A PA-24; HPG H145; PMDG 737-600; AIG; RealTraffic; PSXTraffic; FSiPanel; REX AccuSeason Adv; FSDT GSX Pro; FS2Crew RAAS Pro; FS-ATC Chatter
June 15, 20205 yr I have 11 GM VRAM and use Win10 2004, thus there's ~10GB left for usage. VRAM use of NCA on Prepar3d5 is certainly high. Depending on situation it's around 8 but can become 9 GB. I once even had a DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE-HUNG CTD (i.e. VRAM; exhausted). This was when I looked left and next right an then straight again using the Coolie hat which typically adds ~0.4GB. To be fair, this is with extremely ("too") high settings (but still acceptable performance), There's enought headroom for lower settings on my system: Texture resolution (4096), LOD (maxed), Autogen distance (maxed, has a high influence), compressed textures... so I wouldn't call it unusable on my system. Took a flight today all around the bay area and the highest it got was 5.5/6.6. I honestly could not tell the difference between the 1024 and the higher setting i had it at. June 21, 20205 yr Author The windows 10 2020 update became available to me yesterday so after updating, I did another flight as before with no setting changes and went from 5.5 / 6.6 max reading during flight around bay area N/Cal T.E. to 5.1 / 7.1 max reading flying the same scenario. Big improvement! Only changes made were going from Ultra to 1024 which gave me the 5.5/6.6 max with no "Hung" error flying around the bay area and into KSFO. Now the max is 5.1/7.1 and no issues so far...... Ed Windows 11 PRO-AMD RYZEN 9 9950X3D-MSI MAG X870E TOMAHAWK-NVIDIA RTX 5080 16GB-64GB GSKILL 6000-2TB NVMe-1050PSU- It goes to Eleven! Si ATC. June 21, 20205 yr Sadly due to pandemic and low resources in stock in some countries, the prices of some computer devices are dramatic increasing. 😞
June 21, 20205 yr Change your AA setting a from 8xmsaa to 2xssaa and save yourself almost a 1gb of vram. mike
