Bandwidth concerns when streaming your data while flying

Featured Replies

I am super excited about the upcoming MSFS and have already pre-ordered the premium version. However I have one big concern and thats how much bandwidth does this thing consume. I have Comcast as my ISP and we're capped to 1TB of data per month. Between streaming data when flying in MSFS and sharing it for other things that I use my computer for, I'm afraid that I will easily hit that limit or go over it. I really hope that Asobo can continually make optimizations on their end so that we don't end up using so much bandwidth. I can hardly imagine how much data we would be using on a long haul flight using planes such as the 747.

Aaron, a 1Tb limit is 1000 Gigabytes. I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine unless you're flying 10 hours a day over 30 days. Bear in mind streamed data over oceans will be a fraction of that over land.

If you have a way of monitoring your usage I'd do it but I'd be surprised if you're even close to the limit. How many other users in your household and how much do you download such as UHD movies etc?

My highest usage in a month so far has been 205 GB.  That included lots of video watching and downloading 120 GB worth of Alpha.  Next month was 130 GB which may have included an update.  I think my streaming usage from MSFS is still under 10 GB.
