July 16, 20205 yr @Nedo68 your link goes to the page 1 of that AS Thread and indeed it seams that Mathijs confirms your presumtion. Unfortunately on Page 2 of the same thread Mathijs kind of takes back what he confirmed... and this time 3 times in a row... https://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/154700-aerosoft-official-retail-partner-for-microsoft-flight-simulator/&do=findComment&comment=989324 https://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/154700-aerosoft-official-retail-partner-for-microsoft-flight-simulator/&do=findComment&comment=989325 https://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/154700-aerosoft-official-retail-partner-for-microsoft-flight-simulator/&do=findComment&comment=989332 so i think he did answer kind in a hurry that first message.... He doesn't know what his talking about tbh, he admits this when he says he will confirm with Microsoft. To update the game from the microsoft store you have to have the digital entitlement to the game, there's no if or buts about this, this is exactly how it works for other physical releases from microsoft.
July 16, 20205 yr Could someone explain what this key thing is all about? As a console gamer, you either buy digitally or the disk version, you don't need a key. What are people doing to lose the disks?

However, I believe the disk version won't work if you don't have the disk in the console to at least be scanned by the console when you start the game.. Example - my Battlefield 4 on XBOX won't start unless I have the disk in the console: I didn't purchase a digital copy, only the physical. Surely then you can just sell the boxed game once the key is used?

There is no "key" which gets remembered in the case of a physical copy. When I click on a game in my inventory, the XBOX (or rather my account) knows if I bought a digital copy or physical and thus checks to see if the correct DVD is in the slot. If I want to continue to play a game where I purchased a physical version I will always need to put that game's DVD into my XBOX. If I didn't want to put the DVD in the console then I would have to buy a digital version of the game. Someone mentioned would they get a key for MFS if they bought the boxed version. That's what I'm asking, why would someone need a key.
