Thanks for the tip! this works like a treat to me when combined with other tweaks found here and there.I can now crank autogen up and this changes a lot! I also confirm it indeed shuts shader 2.0 since setting water 2.0+ renders a blue water with no reflections at all. Here is the new entry for my ATI X1400;----------------------------------------------------------------------; ATI Mobility Radeon X1400; 6.14.0010.6606;----------------------------------------------------------------------[00001002:00007145:ati2dvag.dll]MinDriverRev=6.14.0010.6606Shader20Plus=14UseShaders=1

I am sorry that this did not quite work for you.Did you use square brackets in the new entry that you createdin display.cfg? Could you post exactly what this entry lookslike?

The ATI Radeon section seems to define one section that is active if you are running a driver release older than 6.14.0010.6344. In this case I believe it reduces the AntiAliasing to a lower setting - possibly due to a driver bug or due to performance problems.I propose you add your Shader specific lines to both sections because frankly I do not understand how exactly that Disable or the MinDriverRev line syntax works.Christian

Ihave a Geforce 7600gs. I made the change in the display.cfg and now the sky is dark blue.very dark blue.

doesn't do anything for me i added the following;----------------------------------------------------------------------; NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GS (AGP);----------------------------------------------------------------------<000010DE:00000041:nv4_disp.dll> Shader20Plus=13UseShaders=1i know these are not correct brackets, but in the display.cfg i do have the correct ones. Now even when u set useshaders=0 then i still have everything working so i gues somehow it doesn't take the card. Is there anything else i need to do to make it work ??i also found the following in my display.cfg and i wonder if i have to change anything to this.;----------------------------------------------------------------------; NVIDIA Drivers on Win2K/XP;----------------------------------------------------------------------Disable=1MinDriverRev=5.13.01.1241Disable=2

Device and vendor ID seem to be correct for a GeForce 6800. I am at a loss here. Where have you placed your additional entry? Mine is the second in the list in the section titled "NVidia Cards". Line number 395 is where I placed it.

Oh i added it all the way at the bottom of the list, should i add it into the Nvidia section ?

Ok i added it to the second spot in the NVIDA list and still nothing, again i also tried to disable the shaders but still everything working, still have the glass reflections, etc. I just wanted to see if it worked but like i said it doesn't unfortunatly.

this is card dependant. I have a 7800 gtx, used this mod to turn off shaders completely, lost taxi signs, but did not gain any fps

Please don't think I was complaining it just didn't seem to have any effect. Here is my entry.;----------------------------------------------------------------------; NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT;----------------------------------------------------------------------[000010DE:00000291:nv4_disp.dll]Shader20Plus=13UseShaders=1Thanks for the help.Tom

Once I edit the display.cfg file, is there anything I need to do to get FS to read it? If I remember correctly, FS9 only read the display.cfg file when it was creating the fs9.cfg file. Is that incorrect? My card was not listed in it so I added the following lines:;----------------------------------------------------------------------; ATI MOBILITY RADEON X300; 6.14.0010.6568 ;----------------------------------------------------------------------<00001002:00005460:ati2dvag.dll>MinDriverRev=6.14.0010.6568Shader20Plus=14UseShaders=1What does the line "AntiAlias=?" (0 or 1 I assume) mean? What does the line "Disable=?" (seems to be 1 or 2) mean? What does the line "TnL=?" (seems to be 1 or 2) mean?Wow, there's a lot of different options in this file. Any of them important for modern cards? Thanks,Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

hmmm... why not put it in the generic nvidia drivers section that applies to all nvidia cards?

Thanks for this tweak - it appears to have given me a 4-5 FPS boost with no adverse effects detected so far. Made a very noticeable difference.Intel P4 3.4GHz2GB DDRAMNVidia GeForce 7800GS AGP
