Flight planning and weather?

Featured Replies

Has anyone seen a video about viewing the weather? possibly in the world map or flight planner? I'm just wondering if we can view the weather radar and plan accordingly, especially before and during a long haul flight. Gotta dodge those pesky cumulonimbus that might pop up!

I've seen a few videos where if you are on the world map you can zoom out and see the cloud cover etc. Hovering over your airport shows the current weather metar.

Yes in the world map you can view the weather, clouds at least. I'm not sure though if it shows storms or not.

As other have said you can view cloud cover, precipitation and wind via overlays on the world map. Hovering over an airport shows wind speed and direction. So it is better than nothing but not very detailed. I imagine that this is something that MS/Asobo will improve on in the future.

I currently find windy.com a very useful resource when using MSFS. The data has been quite accurate for flying in Europe I did.
