  1. Adding to what I wrote above: Even if they add Premium/Deluxe content because these were marketplace items, I guess my question would simply be: Will things like the A310 or the Spruce Goose be in 2024 or will they dump them like they did with, for example, the "Century of Flight" airplanes from FS2004 which weren't in FSX (which was considered a completely normal thing back then).
  2. There are still a lot of open questions though. The biggest for me is: Will all of the standard/premium/deluxe edition content from 2020 carry over into 2024? 2020 is a huge package by now, with countless planes, handcrafted airports, bush trips, etc. etc... A lot of the premium airplanes only became good to fly in the past few months. There's a huge amount of content in 2020 that I haven't even really tried out yet. I hope they make the right decision and carry this stuff over.
  3. Don't worry too much. I fully expect a lot of developers will quietly come back to flightsim.to once the dust has settled and things have quieted down a bit around this current issue.
  4. I think it has something to do with creating hype for products. Discord servers run by developers often attract the most enthusiastic crowd. Criticism quickly gets drowned out in the flood of positive messages. There are no dedicated threads for bugs that are easily visible to potential buyers of a product.
  5. I'm sure this internet thing won't catch on anyway, you'll see. 😋 BTW, we're seeing here exactly the generational divide between simmers that I was mentioning a few days ago in this thread. Old-time simmers not being familiar with modern dynamics of the gaming, mod & "influencer" market and its connections with social media, and thus fundamentally misjudging the sheer pull and market power a site like FS.to has, simply through its convenience for everyone involved.
  6. Thank you very much, but I can assure you people here can decide for themselves perfectly fine what "we" are discussing here and if they have an opinion about something, without you trying to police the thread. 😏
  7. That's not what I was saying. I don't have a problem with donation buttons or donating for free mods, I do so myself. My point was that the notion that creators don't benefit at all from a site that hosts their mods and gives them maximum visibility is a bit short-sighted. If that were the case, we wouldn't have such a massive argument about this entire issue, and creators would have just left without looking back.
  8. A lot of the creators now up in arms around this thing have a big fat donation button in their fs.to profiles.
  9. Thanks Rainer, I'll mark Sunday in my calendar then! 😃 I'd very much like to try out your airports in Brandenburg, because I spent a lot of time in the area when I lived there a few years ago.
  10. I fully understand that sites have to be financed by ads and I'm happy to deactivate my blocker for them. But in this case, I was already registered and the account was confirmed, and one day later I couldn't log in any longer because it says my username & mail can't be found. I'm not sure if I did anything wrong during activation, @simmershome has some pretty extensive rules, they want to have a filled out profile and also a picture in the profile before an account gets fully activated. I filled everything out as far as I could see, that's why I asked them here (didn't get an answer by mail).
  11. BTW, concerning your site: About a week ago I sent you an E-Mail because my account there was first verified (one day after registration) but a day later I couldn't log in any longer. Maybe you can have a look. 😃
  12. It's a generational issue. The same subtle resentment still exists towards MSFS in general. Some people here will never forgive Microsoft for making a new Flight Simulator without asking the AVSIM "Board of Directors" for permission, first. 😅
  13. Well, if you compare just the number of mods and ease of accessibility on Flightsim.to with Flyawaysimulation and Simviation, it's just no comparison. Not even close.
  14. Guess I should have known better than to get back onto Avsim after a one-year absence, oh well.
  15. Overall, I would say it's a great time to get back into MSFS right now. The sim is much more mature nowadays, and you already get a great package just from the stock installation together with the World Updates (there are 11 now, with #12, New Zealand, coming out in a week or so). The reworked Garmin panels are a real game changer for a lot of the stock planes, and performance and handling characteristics are much more realistic now for the stock airplanes. I would recommend at least a lower-end HOTAS like the Thrustmaster T.16000M. You might get by on a simple XBox game controller too. Graphics-wise, depending on the performance of your PC, a monitor with WQHD resolution (1440p) is probably the sweet spot right now. Depending on your graphics card, you can expect between 40 and 60 FPS on higher mid-end hardware with that. On anything but the slowest internet connection, I would definitely recommend activating the online terrain streaming features and, depending on your preferences, also the live air traffic or online players.
  16. I'm having this "ATC goes silent" (but still readable in the ATC window) issue. It seems to be connected to having the copilot ATC assistance switched on. I like to use this on longer flights to automate the frequency switching. Yesterday I kept it turned off and handled the ATC myself and I didn't have any problems with it going silent. Overall, the stock ATC still has mostly the same problems and limitations it always had. However, I'm finding that with the new Garmin panels, overall it's easier to work around the ATCs limitations because the flight plans and procedures inside the Garmin systems work much more consistently now. Yesterday, I had a great night IFR flight in the modded Cirrus SR22. ATC assigned me a proper approach with transition (didn't put any SID or STAR in the flight plan beforehand, just the destination) and also assigned the correct altitudes for the descent. The only problem was I had to ignore the order to descent for a few minutes until I reached my Garmin TOD and VNAV took over.
  17. I tried this plane out a few days ago. You can make the DME equipment show up with the tablet interface (if you're missing the tablet, you can find it between your seats), and then just switch it on once it's visible in the panel.
  18. Actually, I did, and that was even right on release day, IIRC. I was streaming for some friends, finally able to show them MSFS (after having to keep quiet about it during the Alpha) and they were requesting flights in various areas of the globe. Someone requested a flight through Yosemite National Park, and there were some bears around. 🙂 EDIT: I found the post from August 18th 2020:
  19. Improved ATC, specifically giving it the ability to assign you appropriate SIDs, STARs and approaches on the fly, without having to pre-plan them.
  20. Sorry, but that's just not the case. There's no other flightsim forum I know that over the past 3 years has had so many bad takes, often bordering on disinformation, about the development of MSFS than Avsim had.
  21. To be honest, after two years, I still haven't understood the "active pause" and why anyone would use this compared to the regular pause function that can also be bound to a key.
  22. Are you sure you don't have any addons running that might cause this? I never saw a live traffic aircraft "spinning" on the ground so far.
  23. Yes, the OP was about real-time live traffic, which is indeed working quite well these days across Europe and North America.
  24. But how do we know you're not hallucinating or your eyesight has gotten worse if you still don't provide any screenshots? Every week someone turns up here claiming that the "textures are garbage compared to last year", or "the clouds look awful compared to the alpha" or whatever. What these threads almost all have in common is that they don't provide screenshots that would allow us to compare.
  25. Of course the attacks turn personal. I mean, some PMDG guy was trying to check the personal government issued ID of a forum user to confirm if his name checks out. 😂
