First RNAV LPV landing in the C172

Featured Replies

Not sure whether this has already been reported, but the C172 G1000 is capable of LPV landings, albeit with some strange Glideslope Indicator behavior.

I flew into CYCD RNAV 16 via the HADER iaf and saw the GS indicator appear, early and pegged at the bottom.

On final, the GS indicator started to rise and I simply pushed APR on the autopilot, to see what would happen.

It actually captured the glidepath and guided me down to the runway, not without complaining when I dropped some flaps..

The GS indicator clearly is not behaving correctly, but I hope this will be fixed.

So... buggy, but maybe this will end up OK..  Not sure if it is worth reporting to MS, they make it so complicated to file a bug report ☹️

Bert. I know Zendesk is a pia, but that’s all we have. If you want more substance in you report try an ILS and watch the CDI once established on the LOC.

I'll do some more testing... I guess I made it into the beta program after all!

😉

I agree Bert, their current bug reporting method through Zendesk is discouraging... and that is a understatement.

I've held back a few reports myself until I have enough time to spend at least an hour filling the same form for each bug.

I just did the same approach from cyqq and programmed the flight directly into the G1000 and it was fine except it seem the GS should be at the top not the bottom, it's as if it's reversed but it did GS me in fine.

I also think that GS is locked no matter what you do with the VOR radial, this is the basic of flight. Unless I somehow missed it in the assistance setting somehow.
