August 21, 20205 yr Who is mindstar? why don't you trust PMDG who really likes the Sim (as publicly stated in several forum posts by Robert). Also noted that Mindstar intended to port their product to MSFS? (apologies if I misunderstood the post) "Not certain when we'll be able to port as it's not something that's actually in our control. We'll keep an eye on it" Obviously any attempts of reusing old code/artefacts to MSFS is a big gamble (hello Orbx london Landmarks). But I wish them best of luck. August 21, 20205 yr Yes but i don`t think we will see PMDG much before 2022 the SDK is still in progress according to Robert. That`s why P3DV5 will still be my main sim and seasons, With what they have to fix i don`t se seasons coming anytime soon if at all like XPlane. Raymond Fry.

It means those developers will hire programmers who can use DirectX, Vulkan, or OpenGL to create stuff, all of which can do what GDI+ does, far better than GDI+, since these other methods can access modern hardware properly and have more advanced animation capabilities too. The post you've linked to does not mean complex things are not possible in the new simulator, it means the tools that particular developer used for their previous add-on are not fully supported, meaning that it wouldn't be a simple task for them in particular to port their existing product over to the new sim, unless they adopted a new production method/. In short, meaning they'd have to do some stuff from scratch and learn to use some new development tools, APIs etc. To put it in simple terms. It's the equivalent of me saying I only know how to ride a bike, but there are no bikes here just lots of cars and trucks, so I can't travel up the road. It doesn't mean it's impossible to go up the road. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

August 21, 20205 yr Ähm and if I read their forums correctly, they do not even support P3D v5 or even P3D v4 yet. So who expects them to be first in line with MSFS now? Georgian Virtual Airports (UGMS Mestia / UGGT Telavi / UGAM Ambrolauri)

August 21, 20205 yr Simple fact is, if you are in computer software and development, you've gotta move with the times and be prepared to learn new methods all the time. I've been on the rough end of that deal many times! It is worth bearing in mind too, that where this kind of thing is concerned, nothing is truly 'impossible', merely sometimes hard to do, or possibly requiring some (occasionally convoluted) creativity. You might recall that about 12 years or so ago, it was popular wisdom that FSX was not capable of supporting a realistic stab at an A320, until FSL came along with the right attitude; refusing to accept that as a fact, and instead getting on with making it happen.
