Fuel mixture control in Cessna 172

Featured Replies

I can't adjust the fuel mixture. If I barely touch the fuel mixture the engine immediately stops and I can't restart it. It must be the control mapping, I guess. I have the Saitek yoke and throttle quadrant. Anybody having a similar problem?

I had the same problem. There was an R-axis assigned to Mixture. I deleted this axis assignment and now I can adjust the mixture with the mouse.

Thanks for the reply. I will give that a try, but ideally I want to use the fuel mixture control in the throttle quadrant as it is meant to be  🙂

I have the mixture mapped to the wheel control on my CH Products joystick and it works as expected.  Make sure you don't have more than one control mapped to the mixture axis or they'll interfere.

Note that mixture processing is not well modeled in MSFS.  I usually go to external view during runup and adjust mixture to max RPM using the digital readout, then again at cruise.  If you're really good you can do it with the tach instead.  Leaning by ear (and probably by EGT) doesn't work well in MSFS.

Thanks. Thought it was a bug in the sim until I read this.  I will leave as is and see how well it works on my X52 throttle.

I have the mixture mapped to one of the axis on my TH Warthog Throttle and it works as expected, check that your joystick axis is correctly calibrated in control settings and that there is nothing else mapped to it.
