It is also not uncommon for there to still be lots and lots of bugs after that day 1 patch. And that day 1 patch has been in development often for weeks because there's usually a time lag between release certification and actual release. I don't know what the cert date for MSFS was, but given that they did about a 5-minute beta program and obviously hyper-accelerated everything about development, at the last minute, I would guess it was not very long at all before actual release. And that would mean that the devs have not had that nice lag time to work on their first patch, which would render a day 1 patch pretty much impossible. It's ok to have patience, yes, true, but it's also OK to question why there wasn't a day one patch or why it requires a date to announce another date for a patch. Maybe it's better to put out a huge patch all at once instead of a few, quick, small ones? But games that have day one patches are for physical games which need to be made well in advance of release date, this doesn't matter with digital products, there's no reason for there to be a day one patch when the whole game can be download right away after all,
August 24, 20205 yr Actually, I get the impression that small patches are pretty much being dropped on us with no notes most days since each morning logging in, theres something coming down before the program starts, so I think were looking at 2 things here... little things that can change are coming down pretty often, but scheduled big releases will be coming down weekly or so as things are worked on. August 24, 20205 yr Companies don't release patch details until right before launch now. Companies used to put details out early, but now if something gets changed last minute it sets the entire internet off. Not saying it is right or wrong, but in answer to "why don't they communicate more" - this is the answer. A lot of companies won't even tell you when something is dropping anymore. That's just the social media world we live in now. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
August 24, 20205 yr This sim was apparently released prematurely, I do not like the idea of paying to become a beta tester so I will wait for a while before I buy it. August 24, 20205 yr I don't disagree with that opinion, @Ixoye. On the other hand, there are still bugs in FSX that were never fixed. Some of them are still present in P3d. In the flight simulation genre, at some point you have to decide to buy even though the thing is still buggy - or just resign yourself to finding a different hobby.
