Crashing to Desktop

Featured Replies

Oh dear, reminds me of my FSX days. I hope this will get fixed. I have been flying across Canada in the 172... for the most part it is OK, apart from the known Live weather issues, and other bugs. But I have been getting crashes to desktop. The sim freezes, and crashes. So unstable for a game in 2020... I hope they fix this. My comp is not a slouch, Ryzen 5 3600, 5700XT, 32 gbs ram, 75MBPS internet. Any one else getting these crashes?

its very stable here, with a slower computer.

I was getting CTD all day long a couple of days ago. Turns out I had the Nvidia GeForce Experience frame rate counter running in the background that was causing it. When I disabled that, my problem went away. Maybe there is something installed or enabled that could be causing the issues similar to my experience.

I had the same problem,  CTD during flight, while changing settings, you name it, it happened usually minutes after starting the sim.

it turned out to be the audio, had Nvidia's, Realtek and Intel sound devices. I went ahead and tested by disabling Nvidia's and Intel's and just left the on-board Realtek. Have not had a CTD since then.

Hope this helps!

This might be a good thing to report via zendesk?

So frustrating, I have 35 hours of flying in the sim... now this starts! I can't get past the main menu now. It immediately freezes and crashes. Very frustrating.

Yeah, I cannot have ANYTHING running in the background.  It stutters, and then gets worse and finally crashes.

Have you checked your PC's XMP/AMP profile?  I find sometimes these crashes are related to RAM just in general.

I wouldn't know where to begin. I am beginning to think it has something to do with AMD drivers/software. When in the sim, AMD dashboard shows I am playing "Fortnite" something I have never played or had on my computer. So I am not sure the vid card is recognizing the sim.

That particular setting is usually in the UEFI/BIOS for the motherboard.  Its exact placement depends on the board but usually it will be under the performance options or the memory options.

Make sure also your Motherboard Firmware is up to date and you have the latest AMD drivers for both the processor and the Video Card.  There was a lot of corrections early on with the Ryzen stuff and its a solid platform but as taxing as this game is it could be touching off one of those weird cases that caused general stability issues.
