Clouds / Graphics

Featured Replies

In the few flights that I have done so far I feel as though the clouds don't look like I've seen online and in videos.  Is there a setting to make them look thicker and realistic?  To me they have just looked like what they do in P3d so I am guessing I have a setting turned down.

Also, regarding graphics, is there a setting to make the graphics look crisper? I'll be honest, outside of having vector data appear accurate, the graphics don't look as realistic as I have seen online as well.  I am sure it is either my PC or my settings, but just thought I would check to see what I can look for to make things look a little better.  Much of what I have seen almost looks like generic/default instead of photo so I am thinking maybe I have a setting turned off or something.

Outside of that, I am really enjoying this new sim and can't wait for a realistic airliner to come out!

Could you post a few screenshots? That would make it easier.

When I first installed the sim it defaulted to 'high end' and when I checked out the first area I wanted to see, I was a both blown away that so much was there and a bit let down by the overall lack of sharpness of the ground scenery.  I checked several areas and all seemed to be similar.  I switched over to 'Ultra' and it ran even worse than it had.

I was reading various tips for improving performance and I set frame rate to 30, set auto traffic to zero, set it back to 'high end' but then set clouds, buildings, trees, terrain textures (that require sim restart) and water all on 'Ultra' and then I restarted the sim and went to the Florida Keys and it all looked VERY good.

What Ive seen is that settings can make a huge difference but there is simply varying quality of the scenery itself and sometimes its just not as good as it could/should be.

Try doing what I said here and restart your sim -- possibly even restart your whole computer... go to KTMB and fly around a bit in the C172 from the Premium package.  Hopefully you can enjoy it as much as I am.

The sim does have issues but Im enjoying it a great deal.

Oh -- I turned off MultiPlayer and online weather and online atc.  I think all of that needs more time.

as for clouds, maybe this might help

no matter what graphics settings you run, for best clouds turn manually Volumetric Clouds to Ultra.
