>Speaking of "Jet" (it was sublogic-not ms if I recall)-I>bought a brand new Amiga at the time-quite expensive-all so I>could see runway threshold markings-was a big step in reality>at the time...Ah yes sorry, you're absolutely right - it was Sublogic.Smalco said it best; why be so upset over something that costs you less than a dinner with your gal? Sometimes I go out to a bar with my buddies and spend more on pouring drinks down our gullets than what I spent on FSX Deluxe, and when the night is over, I go home with nothing to show for it.I just don't see what the big deal is. I do however feel bad for the people like the parents who go out and buy FSX for their 15 year-old son for Christmas, or other more "unsuspecting" customers like that. But I think the rest of us who are flightsim junkies will grudgingly do the upgrade shuffle as we always do to feed our expensive hobby. As I said before, even with all the compromises I've had to make on the graphics and other features in FSX, I'm still beginning to enjoy it immensely. As time goes on and I upgrade my system, I'll enjoy it more.

smalcoThat's marketing, that's how money is made in this industry, that's how MS makes money. But hey, what do you expect for a piece of software that costs less than a good dinner with your gal? It sure looks like FS is getting as real as it gets, problem is that the community seems more more like living in a fantasy world (reason why I quit posting here a long long time ago). ---------------------------------------------------------------------Personally I for one am grateful for the FS community and especially for all the posts regarding FSX! If not for this community I may have been suckered into going out purchasing FSX soon after its release! Or even worse upgrading my Pc , so that I can run the new DUO Core processor which as it turns out doesnt do squat for FSX!I had preordered FSX at EB games and as it stands my $5 is still sitting there. And unless something drastically changes with FSX , will continue to sit there!Regards, CyberSimmer----------------------------------Asus P4800SE moboIntel P4 3.0 overclocked to 3.4EVGA Nvidia 6800GT AGP O.C.2 gigs of Corsair Dual Channel Ram2x Maxtor 80Gig 7200rpm hardrives19in. I guess you must be at heart a "microsoft fanatic"-cause two threads up you said "That is the typical behavior of some of these MS Fanatics, next it

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

>Hi, Geof.>>>Me-I'm always ready to learn<>>I am afraid that you have no idea what the definition of>

My only question re: FSX is how was it designed for hardware in the future if it's incapable of using the hardware trends of the future (dual core)?? I don't see how it will ever run that much better if we continue down the road with current cpu trends...Maybe I am missing something and MS can fill me in on their future plans?

Ouch.Come on everyone, we're all a decent bunch of people around here. Tempers might have flared a bit, but let's try not to attack each other personally. If there's a difference of opinion here, let's just agree to disagree and remain cordial. As my favorite comedian Richard Jeni would say, "We're all on the Hindenburg, so there's no sense in fighting over the window seat!".GG

TV is very easy to remember-says basically the same thing with every sim release-then instead of talking the issues, usually ends up saying things like his above posts about someones rw piloting skills that he has no knowledge of. It used to tick me off-now I find it incredibly funny if not a little sad.....http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

Hi Len,Good to see you're enjoying both FS9 and FSX (FSX a little bit more than when you first started with it).Sure, FSX has its warts. For me, I like FSX better than FS9 in most flight scenarios, but I fly mosty GA in the sims. I can see that with the heavy iron and max sliders, it can be challenged with lower FPS.Just a recommendation, with all the posts about Video RAM versus System RAM, it appears that System RAM will help more with FPS. Based on your PC specs, if you added 1GB more to bring it up to 2GB, that may let you slide some of the sliders to the right more.In my case, I added 2GB (for a total of 3GB). I don't need all that, but I wanted the same speed memory modules. The additional RAM has helped. With MAX sliders, I get about 8 FPS at KSEA (arguably, one of the highest impact areas due to the water, aiports, city, etc.). But, with almost everyhing at MAX (except for Bloom, high water, and high AI - I still set AI to 25% and ships to 100%), I'm getting around 15 FPS on the ground at take-off and around 20 FPS everywhere else. But, when you pan to downtown Seattle, the FPS drops again to about 12 FPS. Flying West past Seattle, the FPS jumps to the low 30 FPS.Anyway, you may consider adding more RAM. You can always use it in another PC.JerryG

Hi.That's because he is making it up as he goes along. Sadamson is superficial about what he does, and thinks that just winging it is close enough.I never wrote any letters to MS, unless it came from him in my name? But I did say that the Sim can be conducive to bad habits that can translate into real safety issues in real world flying, and I will stand by the statement. He, and a body of his, were trying to sell the idea that a specific model was good enough to be used in real world aviation for things like Spin training and other advanced maneuvers. What a joke, and to think that some of these people are using the same sky that I use, it

Just don't take anyone with you....>He, and a body of his, were trying to sell the idea that a>specific model was good enough to be used in real world>aviation for things like Spin training and other advanced>maneuvers.
