>It seems to me that MS/ACES really screwed the pooch on FSX>and you might let others rant as they have the same right to>do so as you do.>If the sim is running well for you that`s fine so if the>forums get to be too much for you you might just want to go>fly.>>PeteI never said they didn't screw the pooch, nor did I say FSX is running "well" - I distinctly said we're all in the same boat with regard to our supreme disappointment. And why should I have to tweak my PC to get FSX to run well? Because I built my PC a year ago, and knowing full well all these months that FSX was going to be a demanding title, it would be silly for me to realistically believe that FSX would run well on it with full bells and whistles enabled. People just assume that PC's remain on the cutting edge for years at a time, which is ridiculous to begin with. Then when a truly next-generation title is released, they have the nerve to wonder why they might have to make compromises for performance.Anyway, you must realize that no matter how hard we complain, Microsoft is not going to come to the rescue, so this "open letter to Microsoft" method isn't going to do squat. Did it work for FS9? How many official updates were released that improved performance in that version? How about FS2002? Any of them?? I sincerely hope we at least get an SLI or multi-core fix of some kind, but I'm not even optimistic about that. It's nothing against MS - I obviously love some of their software, however I've made my peace with the fact that their support (at least for games) can be sorely lacking. Here's to hoping I'm wrong about their treatment of FSX....You can rant all you want - be my guest. When you're finished group-hugging and sobbing about the horrendous performance coding we're stuck with, there are already a decent number of tweaks discovered that can drastically improve the performance of the sim for you. There are actually some people around this community who are trying to work together to make the best of the unpleasant reality.Try some of those ideas on the forum, and if you still aren't happy with FSX, return it, or better yet shelve it and stick with FS9 for the time being. It's not like FSX is all that better in the first place.Regardless of what course of action you take, it should be apparent that flooding the forums with the same useless griping, or hoping in vain that MS comes swinging in like Errol Flynn to solve all of these issues is a waste of our time. It never worked in the past, and I don't think anyone in their right mind believes that will change, so just make the best of it.

Dave, Beta testers gave TONS of feedback. It's that Microsoft chose who/what they wanted to hear.

>You can't return software though (opened), at least at my>best buyYou'd be surprised what you can do if you raise your voice and talk to the manager. If/when i buy the game and it runs worse than the beta then I will take it back and will not accept no for an answer. I surely don't want to have to do that but the beta is at the extreme limit of smooth playability for me now and there is no more margin for less frames. Factor in the activation woes and it will make a quick trip back to the store if it comes to that. I have no qualms about standing up for my rights as a consumer and neither should anyone here.

>I know flight simulation is more difficult to>produce but they have now put this sim behind everything>elseand what does it actually mean ???I don't think you really have clue about differences between flight simulation and "everything else".The most 'disgusting" of it all is the title of your post.Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/for...argo_hauler.gif

I wonder if the people taking it back never could install it at all. I was unable to install it (it would hang when disk 2 was inserted) at first and considered taking it back. Turns out I had the Intervideo DVD suite installed and that was keeping disk two from reading. I heard some people had the same problem with Roxio and Nero. Good thing I found the solution on these very forums. The average Joe who buys it and never heard of Avsim may just get frustrated and think it is defective. Most everyone with a DVD drive has one of these DVD suites since they usually bundle it with the drive. Microsoft should have been aware of (from the beta testers) and had a solution to this and other installation problems before the product was shipped, or at least it should have been mentioned on the box. As far as performance goes, It runs great with no autogen so the problem is in the autogen objects or rather the quantity of them. Reduce the autogen slider and it should run fine. This sim runs way better for me on my current setup than FS9 ever did on the computer I first installed it on a couple of years ago when FS9 came out so I am not complaining.System as it is today:AMD Athlon 64 3700+Asus A8N sli deluxe Mobo2 gigs Corsair ramBFG 7900GTX 512MB (single card no sli)2 Maxtor ATA 133 hard drives (120gig and 300 gig)Thermaltake Tsunami case.Ultra 500 watt power supplyPlextor 708A DVD driveMatrox triplehead to go3 Samsung Syncmaster 939B 19" monitors @ 3840 x 1024 total resSaitek X52 Flight control system (joystik and throttle)CH rudder pedals2 other (older) computers as part of a home networkRegards, Carlos

Having an incendiary title for the thread was no doubt a cheap ploy to get the attention of someone affiliated with MS or ACES.Even if someone "official" did read this thread, they would likely dismiss it like all the rest of the groaning tripe, which was sort of my point here all along - why bother with that strategy? What MS rep is going to want to stick his head in these discussions and instantly get his head bitten off by a bunch of flightsim enthusiasts foaming at the mouth?More productive conversations (while still complaining) might make an environment more conducive to developers chiming in and responding to feedback.

>>Makes me wonder what sort of feedback the beta testers gave>>Aces. I wonder how they even ran it themselves.>>I was a beta tester and there was no way to pass along bug>info. It was a beta test in name only.>The File Planet beta doesn't qualify you to be a "beta tester"...(File Planet's demo/beta did not have any feedback capabilities)

Hi again greg.Yes I hope someone from microsoft dose read my post,But to call it tripe I think you are once again out of order,we join this forum to talk about all aspects of flight sim,to pass on information to to get help and if able to help others,What I said is fact and Microsoft were wrong to do what they did,All the best Greg.Rex

Hi.well another with insulting ways. Can you name me one program or game in the last six months that dose not support SLI and Dual CPU'S and after all FSX is only a game not a way of life. All the best Rex

Interestingly enough...it is EXACTLY the same at Best Buy closest to me here in Frankfort, IL. The Tinley Park Best Buy has it on the bottom shelf BEHIND the new releases right next to Mavis Beacon Typing Tutor.I find this very intesting because whether FSX is great or its isn't doesn't make a difference since it is a brand new title! Why is it not being displayed in the New Releases isle???The store clerk told me that they have gotten their fair share back also because people are not able to run it on their systems and they have come back to the store complaining so much that they just gave them their money back. Even the clerk (a pimply 21 year old, I guess) said he hated it. I pointed him towards Avsim for some help. That was my good deed for the month.

And please, you're not here passing along information to help others - you're complaining. You're saying the same thing that appears on the front page of this forum at least every 20 minutes, and even more inflammatory in your language. I understand your points, but don't try to pass this off as some noble gesture for the community. You're peeved and you want to vent, plain and simple, and that's perfectly normal.Furthermore, what you said is entirely your opinion, not fact. Let's not mistake the two.
