September 3, 20205 yr Only through experience and feeling comfortable can you reduce that panic factor. I still remember vividly an event as a young 18 year old PPL with an IMC ( a sort of basic instrument rating once available in the uk) so relatively experienced compared to these students in the videos. I’d just flown some sort of approach into the old short cross runway at Leeds Bradford ( now a taxiway) in distinctly “murky”’ conditions, suddenly the runway lights appeared out of the gloom below me Earlier than I expected , realising I was way too fast I remember instinctively stamping on the rudder brake pedals to try and slow down ! 787 captain.
