Heathrow, stutters galore and CTD.

Featured Replies

Anyone else having issues around Heathrow or other detailed airports.  I get micro stutters, long stutters, loss of framerate and had a CTD which sucked since the sim takes about 10 minutes to load.  I have an I7 10700K, nvidia 2070 8gb, and 16gb ram.  I have windows on background services and v-sync off with my graphics card locked to 45 fps.  The sim runs beautifully in most areas but Heathrow seems to eat it up!

I just tried a quick circuit around Heathrow in the A320. My performance was pretty good. A couple of stutters but nothing too bad. On my downwind when I was just about abeam of the airport I got a CTD. The error was ntddll.

I just tried to reload at Heathrow and I CTD'd again this time while the flight was loading.

Just a thought, how's your RAM? I believe 16g is borderline for MSFS.

doesn't virtual memory make up for that?  not sure but I think so.

oh no, you dont want VM in the equation, that will definitely cause stutters and possibly CTD

do you turn virtual memory off?

I believe that's a nonsense.

I normally don't wanna be 'that guy' who says everything has been fine for for them but unfortunately this time I am that guy. Probably 90% of my flying is in and around London and out towards Heathrow and Gatwick, often with live traffic and nametags even before the patch. Since release I haven't had one CTD anywhere and i'm using 16gb ram.

Good for you man, but in my case I have seen my ram usage go beyond 16g (I have 32) so its no nonsense.

Well of course it's going to use RAM if you have it.

Well EGLL is one of the most demanding airports in the world.  You need to let us know what your settings and resolution is.  After all running your setup at 4K Ultra is going to tank most systems

It's surely also relevant to state whether you're using the Premium Deluxe version of MSFS as it's the only version with the premium airport.

Sorry I have resolution at 4k.  I have everything set to high.  Render scaling at 80 and LOD at 100

I don’t think your system is good enough for 4K without further compromise to be honest particularly if you looking for silky smooth at EGLL.

I'll try lowering the resolution one setting.
