September 30, 20205 yr Can any Honeycomb yoke users on Windows 10 confirm if their displays will not turn off as requested in your power settings time frame? Also the screensaver will not engage in time. Apparently, the yoke must be unplugged for all that stuff to work again. I'm assuming that it must have something to do with the 9 "always on" toggle switches. If anyone knows of a workaround, other than disabling the entire yoke or unplugging it, please let me know. I was wondering if there is any 3rd party software that could temp disable all the always on switches as a test. Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
September 30, 20205 yr Have you tried it with the front fascia lights turned to the OFF position? It's a known issue that the lights stay on even when the computer is off. I can't imagine this has anything to do with the switches BTW, I expect they're just regular toggle switches. September 30, 20205 yr Author @MarkDH Hi Mark, it's not the lights (tested that previously). I say its the toggle switches only because they have no "off" position and are always on whether they are switched up or down...they always show as "on" in the windows game controller applet, as opposed to all the other buttons on the yoke (and all my other joysticks) which never stay "on" unless you push on them. They're just pairs of toggle switches wired together but yes, one switch of each pair is always in the ON position. It's not obvious to me why this would be a problem. The CH Eclipse and Saitek Pro Flight yokes have the same arrangement for the mode switch (an ON-ON-ON in each case, from memory), and they aren't known to cause any such problems. I wouldn't know either, the reason why this yoke interferes with Windows ability to time-out is unknown to me. I don't know how long this has been going on. It's possible that it's been happening awhile and I I just didn't notice. It's also possible that it was a Windows Update (I recently updated to Windows10 v2004 when MSFS first released some weeks ago), but I don't know for sure. All I know is that this yoke needs to stay unplugged in order for Win10 to automatically turn off my monitor and put my pc to sleep in the timeframe I set. September 30, 20205 yr Sounds like an issue with Windows Advanced Power Management. Check how the yoke is configured in it's properties. Control Panel, Device Manager, Human Interface Devices. I have power management set to off, but I do not leave the yoke plugged in 24/7. I do a lot of other business with my desktop and so I disconnect my Alpha yoke and my Saitek quadrant and put them aside after flying. You might try changing that setting and see what the behavior is then. Windows used to disconnect/power off my Saitek controls in mid flight until I discovered and disabled their advanced power management settings. Do not know what happens with the Alpha yoke as I have always left that setting off as I did with the Saitek. September 30, 20205 yr Not related exactly, but I've had this problem for some time. I don't have the yoke. I've done all my usual 'tricks' required to get this working again and none of them have fixed the inability of my monitors to 'rest'. In my case, I have a new keyboard with USB ports and a few multimedia controls (dasKeyboard) and since plugging it in, this problem exists. Just a data point. Nothing more. Nah, in this case the individual usb device will never allow the pc to wake, nor stop the pc from timing out and turning off the display or sleeping so the power setting in device manager has no effect on this issue...it will however cause what you described, where the device can fall to sleep itself in the middle of a game sometimes and thats why with certain devices you should uncheck that box. 44 minutes ago, RichieFly said: I have a new keyboard with USB ports and a few multimedia controls (dasKeyboard) and since plugging it in, this problem exists yea this isn't the only device to cause this issue from what I've read about it. The only way to allow your pc to sleep in this case is to either unplug the device from its usb port, or disable the device from within device manager. Personally, I've gone into device manager to weed out which device it is and as soon as I disable it then my pc power settings all work fine whether it be the screensaver or display turning off or the pc sleeping...what I'm afraid of by doing this is that by always disabling it, it may be assigned a new ID in windows and then MSFS will lose all the settings for it, and that would be a real PITA. September 30, 20205 yr I've learned to live with it. When I'm through for the day, I log out. Then, the computer acts 'right' and enters defined power saving settings.
