Thunderstorm cloud tops

Featured Replies

I have been flying around Florida these last few days. Given the season, it's no surprise that I have encountered scattered thunderstorms south of Lake Okeechobee on a regular basis. The default weather captures this nicely, with lightning flashes and thunder.  What's not quite right is that the storms seem to top out around 6,000 feet. I checked the local NexRad system and it's reporting the cloud tops to be in the range 15,000 to 25,000, with a few even higher.

Has anyone seen thunderstorms with higher tops on a regular basis? I'll report this to the Zendesk, but wanted to check first to see if other geographic areas display something different.

Thanks.

A week or so ago in Central TX, we had some weather around and MSFS had cloud tops over FL250 with some even higher that required flight path deviation in the TBM at FL300.

Yes, since the last patch I have lightnings everywhere there's a little cloud coverage in live weather...

Yes, that is while mine was working. Very low clouds lightning everywhere zapping across the sky - little puffy clouds only about 2,000 feet and then clear everywhere around those clouds, so looked fake, apocalyptical, and just plain stupid! Thought I was playing aviation version of need for speed.

Now when I try to run it, the game is stuck on checking for updates screen. 😄

Having a nice flight on a lovely sunny day between Alexandria and Cairo with random bursts of thunder and lightning.  Hardly a cloud on the sky!

Thanks folks. I'll send it off to zendesk as weather-related issue.
