October 18, 20205 yr Author Tried with different joystick and clear weather and NO wind. Same outcome. MSI Tomahawk Z790, I7-13700K, DDR5 6000mhz, MSI 4090, 3x SSD 980 PRO, Corsair 360 Liguid CPU cooler, Corsair H1200V2 power.
November 2, 20205 yr Author Tried again with new update and clean install etc…(joystick inputs etc are synced back from the previous install) This time armed the APPR earlier (tried so many times different settings) What I noticed: LOC is BLUE LOC becomes Green (what you expect) Not holding the LOC LOC is BLUE and NAV is green (not good) The Green line stays solid. Someone told me it should change to dashed line when in LOC mode ? ALSO !!! The moment I want to correct the HDG manuallly I disconnect the auto pilot etc. BUT I can’t control the plane. It’s not responding to the joystick or input commands at all (Flaps & Gear etc.) Nothing !!! And this happend everytime when the LOC is not holding/capuring. You can’t get the control back of the plane… Anyone an idea ?..(drives me crazy) Here some screenshots on the last approach ending up not holding the LOC MSI Tomahawk Z790, I7-13700K, DDR5 6000mhz, MSI 4090, 3x SSD 980 PRO, Corsair 360 Liguid CPU cooler, Corsair H1200V2 power.
November 2, 20205 yr Commercial Member Completely Disconnect your Joystick, Throttle and Pedals from PC and try to land with Autopilot only like you did before. Seems likes some of your Peripherals constantly sending some commands, maybe even your keyboard or mouse does this. Edited November 2, 20205 yr by OSM
November 2, 20205 yr It might have been asked before but this only happens with the A320? I yesterday took an IFR flight plan with the X-Cub and everything worked fine and afterwards same plan with the A20nx the plane did not catch the glide slope and I had to fly the approach by hand. In another situation, I accidentally pressed the APPR button way to early and the plane instantly turned hard left, intercepted the ILS approach and landed. 🙂 I do not claim to understand what it does or why. btw: when loading the A320 produced some CTDs, I uninstalled and re-installed the plane only via the content manager. That helped. Maybe it can help in this situation too, sometimes.

Also the keyboard and mouse when everything was set correctly for the ILS approach. Glideslope perpect but LOC still the same issue. Oh men I wist I could figure out what is going on !!! Anyone on the green line to be dashed when LOC mode is active instead of solid ? November 2, 20205 yr Author Around 07:30 is where I enable the LOC It looks like it's not responding to the LOC at all !!! The LOC is green but it seems it's just following the NAV instead of the capture of the LOC. You would expect a Heading change when LOC becomes active. But instead of that the first heading change is according the Flightplan (NAV) And again when disabling the AP the plane is not responding to whatever input (joystick , keyboard commands etc.) MSI Tomahawk Z790, I7-13700K, DDR5 6000mhz, MSI 4090, 3x SSD 980 PRO, Corsair 360 Liguid CPU cooler, Corsair H1200V2 power.
November 2, 20205 yr Author Normally when LOC becomes active (green LOC) you see a HDG change of the Aircraft. But the first HDG change is according to the flightplan (NAV) Very strange MSI Tomahawk Z790, I7-13700K, DDR5 6000mhz, MSI 4090, 3x SSD 980 PRO, Corsair 360 Liguid CPU cooler, Corsair H1200V2 power.
November 4, 20205 yr Author Found the ISSUE !!! Okay, the root cause of the problem is the assistance settings. If you have assists on, they will override the autopilot system, making them do their own thing, which will make the plane misbehaves very strangely. I experienced things like, my flaps just retracted on its own, then putting my thrust lever to CL with A/THR on, behaves like a manual thrust, where it just gives 80% thrust as my lever is set to CL, making me overspeed. And on approach, the Landing assistance kicks in and override the ILS frequency for the localiser and glideslope, preventing my plane to keep the signal on the centreline. Behaving exactly what I had and shared in some videos. As soon as I switch all Assists to off, or Hard / True to Life… My entire autopilot came back to life and recaptured the localiser and glideslope and able to land the plane as it should. So, in summary: Set flight model to Modern. Set all assists to Off / Hard / True to Life. If you want some assists, I find that the Taxi Ribbon or (maybe) the Take off Autorudder is enough. Everything else should be set to off. That way, the Assistance system won’t fight the autopilot and overriding it. I am very happy I found the problem I had..... November 4, 20205 yr Fantastic - well done for persisting with this and getting to the bottom of the problem. I was just about to try what you suggested (been a very busy 48 hours) but you have solved it yourself. I am going to check my assist settings as an occasional odd behaviour might be down to them and I have never checked assists settings except to turn on/off taxi assit. CJ
