Why why can I not capture a LOC (ILS Approach)

Featured Replies

OK, I have just flown your exact flightplan in the A320 neo with the latest dev release of the Flybywire mod and the sim behaved perfectly. I bounced the landing as I thought I would let the autopilot do the full landing but it bounced a little still down and safe though. The ILS was captured correctly and nicely all the way down the glide slope. The video is currently 15.9 Gig so I need to figure out how to compress it as my internet is ADSL and only 17meg download so it will take forever to upload to YouTube.

I will do some digging on compression.

That would be perfect if I can see your flight.
Tried again another airport Paris CDG also not LOC capture,
Glideslope perfect.

Unbelievable

Did you load the flightplan direct from MSFS2020 or programmed FMC yourself ?
Did you start from the runways or gate ?

Within MSFS2020 on the world map. Looked the same as yours. I did a low altitude airways direct departure and ILSl-25z landing.

Will post back once I have sorted the video

Unbelievable..
What is going on here with my FS2020 or ME

Capture LOC initially, once diamond is centred and glide slope diamond is nearing its mid point tap on APPR. Thats the way i do it in the vanilla 320 anyways.

OK the video is uploading to YouTube. Will take quite a while on my quite slow internet, Will post a link once it is done.

Hi

they are too slow.

You have Landing Speed before the glide slope capture.

fly with 180 k, after the slope reduce.

Don't think it will make a difference, I am on full flaps before turning onto final approach doing about 145 and I don't yet have appoach mode on. It works perfectly

Pff I am afraid I will never find the cause on my side.

I have seen elsewhere in this forum (or an other forum)  that this kind of problems could be due to the fact that, depending on the joystick used, no dead zone was configured in the sensitivity setting of the controller.  If not done, try to configure a 3% dead zone on the main axis of your joystick.

Somethng strange.

I did a missed approach because of not holding the LOC.

So I lined up again after a turnaround and now it’s capturing the LOC perfectly.

Is that not strange ?

After a day of only approaches I found the following.

When breaking away of a planned navigation route and force the approach mode the LOC is captured perfectly everytime.
It beats me....!!!
See the following images so that you can see what I mean.

Why o why is this !!

Are your controllers (joystick, rudder etc) well calibrated?

Yes they are.

Tried two different joysticks and calibrated.

The LOC is totally ignored when Flightplan is active etc.

My video is still uploading - nearly 24 hours later! It is now at 87% so should not be too much longer.

Perfect.

Thanks. Hope I can see what is going on 😩

When leaving the planned Flightplan it's capturing the LOC perfectly

Makes no sense to me anymore
