GNS 530 does not appear in FS9 (resolved)

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

I have changed my PC, before I was working on a LapTop which I will inherit to my son and for this I have already formatted it.

But I made a backup of my entire simulator to install it on the new PC.

When reinstalling the GNS530 everything is perfect, use the reinstall option, it installs without problems but once inside the simulator I check the panels where the GNS already had installed and it does not appear, with right click the option of Reality XP appears but not does nothing, try to install it as a pop-up window in a default plane and the window does not appear and in the panels where it was installed it does not show, it only shows in black the place where the GNS should be or it simply does not appear.

Do you have any rxp log files in your Documents folder?

When you reinstalled, did you also install the Garmin GNS Trainer?

And did you install both to the default installation locations?  Or did you install to custom locations.

Hello guys.

That's right, I did the default installation, not custom.

Yes, I installed the Garmin Trainer and it is in the following folder:

😄 \ ProgramData \ Reality XP \ Common \ GnsTrainer

And I have an .ini file at this address:

😄 \ Users \ gero_ \ OneDrive \ Documents \ Reality XP \ GNS Simulation \ FltSim

OK. Sorry I forgot this. You changed PCs.

I built a new system in August and installed FSX SE and RXP gauges.  They did not work.  I had installed with files that had downloaded at the time of version updates.   I had to go to the RXP web site and download fresh ecommerce installers from there.  Then used those to install.  Everything came to life. I recommend uninstalling both the RXP and the Garmin Trainer and then take the route I suggest in this message.

Hello again.

Sorry for the delay but the weekend I had to work and it was complicated, anyway.

Uninstall completely, download the installer from the reality xp page, also uninstall the garming trainer, clean the registry with ccleaner and restart the pc, install again and the result is the same, my gps simply does not appear anywhere.

Give us some more information... what does "not appear anywhere" mean?

Which sim? FSX, P3D..?

Which airplane?  How did you install the GNS into this airplane?

What rxp log files in your Documents folder?  (and content..)

Okay.

It is in Fs9.

The GNS 530 does not appear on any aircraft.

I have the modified panel of the DA Piper Cheyenne IIXL as follows:[

Window13]
Background_color = 0,0,0
size_mm = 100,100
position = 7
visible = 1
ident = 15501
window_size = 0.383, 0.521
window_pos = 0.000, 0.000
zorder = 99

gauge00 = rxpGNS2! GNS_530_1, 0,0,100,100

I also wanted to add it to the cessna 172 default by right clicking, RXP menu, placing it in a new window or replacing the default gps of the simulator, in both cases it is the same, the GNS does not appear in the new window or it appears transparent.

In my document folder I have the following address:

😄 \ Users \ gero_ \ OneDrive \ Documents \ Reality XP \ GNS Simulation \ FltSim

the RealityXP.GNS.ini file with the following settings:

Check your Windows Documents folder... are there any rxp....log files there?

And if so, what is the content?

As for the Cheyenne... how do you make Window13 appear?

Lastly, I do not understand rightclick / RXP menu... sorry but you need to be more specific about what you are attempting to do and what you are seeing..

And to make it even more complicated... what is the OneDrive location all about?

In the last part of my previous message is the complete content of the .ini file that I have in my documents.

Maybe this helps to understand.

Sorry, English is not my native language and it is difficult for me to speak it.

@Bert Pieke The RXP menu shows up when right click over the FS9 window, and when using the Add-ons menu in all other Flight Simulator versions.

@gero_351 Windows is managing your user files in your user folder. One of these is the "My Documents" folder and where the RXP add-on is writing its log files. Please review the RXP User's Manual for the exact file/path and once found, open them with notepad, select all, copy then past the content of these files in a message in this discussion.

Ok, following the instructions I noticed something, my documents, including the Reality XP folder with the RealityXP.GNS.ini file, are at the following address:

😄 \ Users \ gero_ \ OneDrive \ Documents \

And I have the following address but totally empty:

😄 \ Users \ gero_ \ Documents

I think the problem is being generated by OneDrive.

I will copy the contents of one folder to the other and to see that sucde.

This might well be but it shouldn't. I believe you've just configured Windows to sync your local Documents and your 'cloud based' Documents folder so that any change in one folder reflects to the other.

Please note: there shouldn't be any RealityXP.GNS.ini file in "My Documents". However, there most likely will be one in: "Documents\Reality XP\GNS Simulation\FltSim"

Ok, I tried without success.

The RealityXP.GNS.ini file in 😄 \ Users \ gero_ \ Documents \ Reality XP \ GNS Simulation \ FltSim contains the following:

this is not looking like a log file but a configuration file isn't it?

Isn't there any file starting with 'rxp' in "Users \ gero_ \ Documents \" ?
