When it goes alittle pear shaped (Freeze & Go)

Recommended Posts

KB4023057 is listed as installed on the 11th but when i entered the uninstall updates tab that particular update wasnt listed but instead there were 2 others installed on October 13th it appeared which were listed as Update for Windows; these were KB4574727 & KB4576484 so i uninstalled 727 first and was prompted to reboot which i did, then booted P3D up....stuttering continued, so i uninstalled 484 this one didnt prompt to reboot but i did manually anyway and again....the freezing and stuttering persists....

So....Driver Booster application is being downloaded to ensure all my drivers are up to date and if not it updates them automatically...Im going to grant Windows to update fully now too. Im almost at the point of giving up.

As @mpo910 pointed out earlier, have you also updated your MOBO bios and your chipset drivers to the latest available?

I'm going to give that a go on my PC later this evening.

I think Driver Booster covers those, i had 5 out of date drivers ranging from Chipsets to Audio Drivers and those were updated today with DB

What helped was uninstalling and reinstalling the Chipset drivers from my Mainboard Manufacturer (ASUS ROG Formula VII Z490).

Thanks for this, I've also been having stuttering and long pauses (P3Dv4.5HF2) for the last month or so. I wasn't getting any CTD's but LatencyMon was also showing a large pause/stutter occasionally. I uninstalled the Intel chipset drivers and reinstalled the manufacturers (from 2018 - it's a Z270 board).

Long pauses gone...

Updating finding....

So ive been using the AS A32X Pro (Latest v4 version) at ORBX Pula for all these tests with changing settings/updates etc etc and the stutters continue to nag to a point where i give up after 5minutes HOWEVER using the PMDG 747v3 & 777 (latest builds) i get zero stutters or freezing at all....

So now i wonder why its happening with the Airbus Pro...An aircraft i flew alot before with no issues and what could have changed so much in the last few weeks that its almost unusable in the sim now. Very strange.

I am going to try with the NGXu next but even that needs reinstalling related to a different post i made regarding it loading into the sim as if its stuck in slew mode and doing spins and somersaults.

You can try to  Uncheck "Force ECAM Software Rendering" in the A32X Aerosoft Config Tool/App.

In my case leaving this checked it causes issues too (CTD in my case).

Im going to try and be as detailed as i can be with this....

In the last week my setup suddenly started stuttering on flight startup with any aircraft, it usually takes about 2mins or so for it to kick in initially but it stutters and continues running, then stutters and continues, these stutters turn to 4-6 second pauses/freezes almost with the threat of a CTD sometimes but if left it resumes rolling and then happens again and again.

My Rig: Windows 10 Home, i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHZ, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX 1080
Setup based on: P3DV4.5, ORBX Global & OpenLC regions, REX Texture Direct Enhanced & Soft Clouds with Active Sky Live Weather Engine

During moving over to P3D5 I added a very old landclass of Japan and got immediate stuttering. Removing this scenery brought immediate relieve.

The amount of Simobjects for traffic is also a point. To have a decent AI presence at all major airports on the world, makes my system stuttering too. P3D5 can cope a bit better with it. I removed once AIG completely then added a few airlines, then more and more and suddenly the stutters were back. I have the same like you, great fps on my newer system and all 10 to 20 seconds stutters. I also improved my cooling for the overclocked cpu, didn't change anything but the cpu runs cooler now. Also tried to not overclock, to let the cpu use turbo reserves, the stutter remained.

So my advice, check what freeware scenery did you install before the stuttering appeared?

Did you increase the amount of AI airlines before the stutterin appeared?

All other measures are (uninstalling, reinstalling are mostly useless und unnecessary). Commercial sceneries usually are not the problem. Forget any driver changes. If your system used to run good before, this is not the cause now. I optimized my system so often but it didn't really give a boost.

I have discovered my D Drive for which the Airbus Pro are installed has 3 areas flagged as caution (Reallocation Sector Counts, Current Pending Sector Count and Uncorrectable Sector Count) using Crystal Disk Info.

This leads me to think that ive been fighting an almost unfixable problem because i probably need a new 2nd harddrive
