Microsoft Store is Starting Instead of MSFS

Featured Replies

Went to start MSFS [as Administrator], & I am getting a Microsoft Store Gaming Services Screen that appears to want to download something, but I can't tell what.

And it says that "This Product Is Installed"

Anyone else getting this or know a way around it?

What happens if you start MSFS,  using MSFS JumpStarter?

or

start "" shell:AppsFolder\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App "-FastLaunch"

This one has got me twice and it took a lot of sorting. The most recent 'fix' (if that's what did it) was to update Windows from v1909 to 2004, which I'd previously held back from doing. So my advice is check your Windows version and update if possible. But before that, you could try fixing or resetting (in that order) the Gaming Services and Microsoft Store apps n Windows Settings.

OS:     Win11 Home; Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4; CPU: Intel i5-12400 (Alder Lake) 4.4 GHz
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 64Gb (4x16GB) 3600 MHz; GPU:  MSI Radeon RX 5700XT [8GB]
SSD:  Corsair Force MP510 (for OS);  2x 1TB & 1x 2TB Sabrent Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 (one for sim, two for addons)
HDD:  Seagate 3TB (Data); Seagate 1TB (Programs), ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ1B Curved 31.5" monitor, 1440p, 38Mbs ethernet

Fulcrum One Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo throttle, Thrustmaster Airbus TCA sidestick & throttle, Logitech Pro pedals, Xbox wireless gamepad (1st gen)

Windows is at 2004... but the Gaming Services seemed to have its knickers in a knot..

Now it works again... 🙂

I am a veteran of the Store opening instead of MSFS.

After the recent patch it did it again for the first time in two patches.

If it opens the Store - let it open fully then close it again.

Restart your rig and try again - it should clear the knot from its knickers.
