October 21, 20205 yr Hey Guys, Has anyone been able to get Cat 3 Autoland working with A320 or A320nx ? I got it working once but never since - have tried to set everything up idential with Pilot and Co-Pilot (in the pic I forget to enable LS button but also since tried this). Been told it's support to work in the A320nx but still cannot figure it out. Any help appreciated !!!!
October 21, 20205 yr Nope, I was never able to turn on both AP's at the same time. When I turn the second on the first disconnects. I guess it's a bug. October 21, 20205 yr I'm sure I also had it working once too. Can't seem to get it to work now - even with all the development builds.
October 22, 20205 yr Author I don't think its a bug more of a feature yet to be added. Somebody on another forum has advised its not implemented yet. But I still swear I had it working once !!!
October 22, 20205 yr I've gotten it to work many times on the FBW mod - you can't do it by turning on AP 2, but there's a workaround: 1. Make sure you've selected the ILS in the MCDU 2. Make sure the FD and LS are turned on 3. On the approach page of the MCDU, don't enter anything for MDA or DH. 4. As you capture the gs/loc, press the "Approach" button 5. You should see "Cat III Single" on the PFD (not sure if this only works for ILS that have Cat III capabilities) 6. For the most part, it should put you down on the centerline, though I've had some approaches where it's put me in the grass. 7. You'll just have to reduce throttle to idle once you hear "retard" - you can leave AP 1 on until you're on the runway. Let me know if that works! October 22, 20205 yr Worked fine with the A320NX last night into EDDH AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d, MSI X570 Pro, 32 gb DDR4 3600 ram, Gigabyte 6800 16gb GPU, 1x 2tb Samsung NvMe , 1x 2tb Sabrent NvME, 1x Crucial 4tb Nvme M2 Drive
October 22, 20205 yr To the last two replies, autoland does not, and never has truly worked. It will, more often than not, fly an ILS signal to to runway without crashing, especially if you pull the throttle back 20-30 feet above the tarmac, but it does not allow a coupled AP approach, or flare. It flies the plane into the pavement (think of it as a simulated carrier landing if that makes you happy). 😉 It's not a workaround, nor specific to the FBW mod. It's just how the base autopilot has worked from the start. PC: I9-10900K, RXT 3090, 64GB RAM, 3840x1080 49" super-ultrawide
November 11, 20205 yr Author Excuse the late reply I missed these latest few replies @nyfirefly11 - yes that's what I've been doing all along with AP on all the way ! But always Cat III Single but never Dual with both AP 1 & 2 lit up. @Car147 - did you actually get AP 1 & 2 and Cat III Dual ? If so take a screenshot next time. Or did you get the Cat III Single as per above. @Sigwolf - 100% spot on. Cat III Single flies you flat into the tarmac but if you retard when announced it still lands albeit a bit bouncy and bumpy ! True Cat III Dual Autoland ala. Zibo 737 in XP11 should land it flawlessly inc. flare etc.

We're working to bring a proper custom fly-by-wire and autopilot system to the A32NX, but it will still be some months until it is in a state that is ready for public release. Once we're satisfied with that progress, we can look into more complex functionality such as proper CAT III autoland support. Please do not contact me via DM for support or help with the A32NX mod. We recommend using our help channel on our Discord.
