Also interested. Read this is essentially the "maximum pre-rendered frames" setting, with ultra allowing a setting of 0 (though that could cause more long frames and stuttering if hitting a CPU limit).

No impact on image quality or anything else beyond it gave the GPU 12-15% more headroom.   As mentioned I'm vsync'd to 30Hz which may or may not impact this effect.  When you are vsync'd to 30Hz you will not notice 'higher frame rate' per se because you're locked at 30fps.  But for sure, wherever the GPU would hit near 100% utilization will be favorably affected by this setting, i.e. you will be able to handle 12-15% more GPU load w/o choking.  If you're not familiar as long as 30 FPS can be maintained w/o having either the CPU main thread nor GPU hit >=99% you're assured of smooth, stutter-free video animation.  As the GPU starts approaching 100% you will see frame rate start to drop accordingly.
