Vertx DA62 installation error help please

Featured Replies

I've been playing around with the Vertx DA62 and apparently uninstalled and reinstalled it too many times.  I'm getting the following error:

A problem was encountered while checking your keycode details:

Your serial number has been used to install the DA62 too many times over the last 30 days.  Please contact [email protected] and quote the following information:

Serial Number:.............

I had tried contacting support when I first purchased the aircraft and there was no reply.  Is Sean still around or am I out of luck?

Ouch! Not sure why you've been uninstalling and reinstalling so many times. If the 'count' is held remotely on his server then you're probably out of luck. But if held in the Registry you could search for Vertx and see if it uncovers anything helpful.

@jfwharton, to establish if the check is with the server or internal using a Registry key temporarily disconnect your PC from the internet. If you get a message saying a connection with base cannot be established that tells you the check is at Vertx's end and it's unlikely a reset can be made unless Sean checks things.

But if the same message appears the check is probably internal and it might be possible to fix with a Reg edit.

No offense, there really is no support from the developer on this.  Is he even collecting money from this? or just sitting in the bank account?

This is absolutely abandoned project as of right now (see my numerous post on the VertX Sim threads - believe me I was huge supporter of the project and then I changed my colors)

I wish I knew a way to help you regarding your activation.  If it is server related then you are out of luck.

Thanks for the replies.  I already went through the registry and deleted everything I could regarding Vertx but still get the same message.  If I disconnect my internet and run the installer it states that a connection could not be established, so that would indicate that the installations are tracked on the server.  Guess I just wasted $40 and am out of luck.  Why, if someone is going to leave a project, do they not remove the DRM from the server so purchasers can reinstall and not get into situations like I am in?  I just don't understand why they would leave me high and dry.

AVsim should post a stick regarding do not buy VertX as it is "technically" abandoned.  I am really sorry @jfwharton but moving forward on your flight sim purchases please do a check on the forums before you put your hard earned cash on so-so addons which have low tier or no support at all.  Be wary.  We all go through this with Flightsim addons.

Thank you.  I only wish I had done as you suggest.  I saw the aircraft and it looked so good.  And it is excellent except for the no support situation.  Lesson learned.

I purchased the Carenado da62 as a replacement so I have the aircraft to fly in P3D v4.5.  But the Carenado has an issue with P3D v5 and crashes it if I try to enter a flight plan.  Carenado can't reproduce that issue so I can only use the aircraft in v4.5.

@jfwharton, it's a pity you can no longer fly the DA62 but you didn't answer my question as to why you uninstalled and reinstalled so many times.

I don't know if anyone can contact Sean because it seems such a shame that an excellent aircraft like this cannot get basic admin support. If he has died then I suppose that's a good enough reason but his administrators should have arranged for the site to be taken down.

If he is still alive and in reasonable health I can't think of any good reason why he would not at least offer some basic support so people don't feel they've wasted their money.

Maybe @jfwhartoncould contact his credit card company for a refund explaining the reasons for the request. Any idea how many reinstalls you did just for info?

I was trying to get it to work in P3D v5.  It had some issues.  So I tried an install into the P3D folder and then tried installing to the addon folder under my documents.  Unfortunately when you mess with the install and set it to P3D v4 it affected my P3D V4.5 installation when I uninstalled it.  Didn't realize how many times I had done this.  Sure would be nice if during installations it would popup a warning that only so many installs remain.

@Ray Proudfoot can we do a sticky or something for other members of AVsim regarding VertX DA62 - buyer be warned etc regarding it works on 4.5 and it has activation limit and no support whatsoever.

I contacted my bank and started a dispute on the purchase to see if I can get a refund.  We'll see how that goes.  Such an unfortunate situation because I love the aircraft but now can't use it.

I'll check with admin and get back to you.

In fairness it stipulates the aircraft is for v4 only so it's always a risk trying to make it work in a version it wasn't designed for. But there should be some form of warning either in the readme or installation notes that there may be situations that require reactivations. You could use that in your claim.

I knew the aircraft was only for v4 and if I tried installing too many time then there might be a DRM lock and I would need to contact support to unlock the DRM so I could install again.  This happens with other aircraft.  But I did not know at the time I purchased the aircraft that there was no support it.  So that was my argument in the dispute.  That I purchased a product but had an issue and can no longer install it because there is no support available and that I was unaware of this at the time of purchase and would not have purchased the product if I had known.  So we will see what happens.

What is really needed it a warning on the Vertxsim.com site that there is no longer any support for the aircraft.

@jfwharton, I don't disagree with any of that. Admin seem reluctant to allow a warning sticky that could prove counter-productive for legal reasons.

Well hopefully people will see posts like mine and realize they need to beware of issues if they purchase the Vertx da62 and not learn the hard way like I have.
