A couple of interesting tidbits from 3rd party developers

A noticed a post on the REX Discord server that they are working on trying to get snowpack to match RL conditions. Right now, if the METAR shows that it's snowing, then snow accumulates on the ground. But if the METAR doesn't show snow, then the ground is barren (and hehe, summer-like even in the dead of winter in the temperate zone).

Also, since MSFS patch #6, the requirement that each aircraft livery must have it's own model file has been undone by Asobo. There's a post on the AIG forums that this change will allow progress on porting their software to MSFS.

That requirement was the reason people with dozens of livery packs for something obscure were suddenly seeing every airport full of that aircraft. The game was seeing every livery as a distinct aircraft candidate to spawn.

Good news on both fronts.  I know there is a data source out there somewhere on what parts of the earth have snow cover at any given time (I think you can buy a P3D addon that uses this data to more accurately assign snow ground textures?) so i was hoping someone (including Asobo) would grab onto that data and inject it...it would be frustrating to have a sim that can depict snow on the ground pretty decently but never see it unless it’s snowing or manually added.

On AIG...anything that gets them closer to MSFS is great news, ‘nuff said!

As to AIG  yep  can't wait.

As to Snow..  will not buy anything from a third party until Seasons is officially released by Asobo..  can't see the point and flying this winter without Seasons is no biggie for me 🙂

Agreed... hopefully  SIMELITE SOLUTIONS (which was an excellent product in P3D) are working on this.
