November 14, 20205 yr Strangest thing, on the first day after the latest patch everything was working fine. Flew a few flights, restarted the sim a couple of times, rebooted the computer a couple of times, sim was running great. Very next day, no changes or updates to my system, MSFS crashes to desktop immediately at the Mt Fuji screen. Baffled, no changes to my system, event viewer had flightsimulator.exe as faulting module. Tried everything I could think of, video driver etc. but CTD every time. I had imaged my system and MSFS drives a few days earlier (thank you Macrium Reflect) so I restored my system to that time, MSFS went through the same update process, and I haven't had a single problem since. Have only seen one other post on the main forum with the same CTD and they have a completely different system than mine. I still get a bit nervous when I get to the Mt Fuji screen.
November 14, 20205 yr Strange without a doubt. It seems something else updated in the background and the interaction knocked it out of whack. I love this sim, but it is very tempremental about a lot of things. As you say, the Mount Fuji loading screen has become almost like the icon of impending doom! I wont be too sorry when it is changed. North America update next. I wonder what the next loading screen and bringer of impending doom might be? 😁 Edited November 14, 20205 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's. Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.
November 14, 20205 yr Author icon of impending doom, I like that! It's possible that something updated overnight without me knowing it. One little thing that annoys me about the sim is that it installs in all of these hidden and untouchable places, not even giving the option to back up settings or plans. We have to trust that MS will do it for us, and while I am extremely grateful to MS for the sim I know better than to trust them. Why does MSFS have to be such an opaque install, is it to protect us from ourselves? It's a much more unstable (temperamental) sim than the transparently installed FSX ever was, but perhaps because it's much more complex. Looking forward to the North America update.
November 14, 20205 yr Take a look at the date stamp of any Xbox gaming services updates in the windows store perhaps...

Looking forward to the North America update. Not even remotely true for me. Only CTD was one early on w/ the known and fixed VFR map. Have you installed ANY community mods/hacks?
