Put my whi.. sorry, complaint posts in a separate forum ;)

While I respect peoples opinions and feelings I am getting a bit fed up having more interesting posts being quickly pushed down the line because someone has the need to state that FSX runs poorly on their supersystem and why, oh why haven

On the contrary.Any developer who actually watches their target market yelling and screaming is a good developer. ACES obviously do this. Additionally, most people who are posting about their poor performance will usually have their system specs posted as well... something that the developer would find invaluable.... Maybe instead of pushing complaints to another forum, maybe content users should have to go post in the "I'm Lucky, my 15fps is smooth" forum???? Is that any better or worse? Just the same in my opinion. It doesn't take much to scroll scroll scroll, looking for posts that will interest you. I for one have learned a lot about cause/effect just by reading up on peoples complaints, it has helped me substantially in getting FSX to a usable configuration. I'm sure other people here appreciate it too. What I can agree on though, is that needless "I hate ACES/MS" posts are useless. Posts that go nowhere, posts that don't get to the point, and posts that are simply whining for the heck of it, are posts that we can all do without.Remember, a forum is a place where problem solving flourishes. If no one brings light to their problems, nothing gets done. Do you think that any of the good tweaks we have for this sim would have been thought of if every user just thought that he was the only one having a problem?Anyways, tongue in cheek. It's all good in my opinion... no one is suggesting to shut the whole place down so were all good as long as each of us has a place to post. :)Kev C

Don't worry, I dealt with this crap on more than just this forum. In time things will calm down and business will continue as normal... but it will be several months. The initial "OMG!" needs to be over.I for one enjoy the game, and I don't mind criticism based upon solid backed up data, however that tends to be beyond 90% of the people that want to complain, and attempting to squash this will lead to insomnia. Gonna have to get used to seeing this forum like this for a while bud, that is just how these things go unfortunately. At any rate, I feel for ya bud. Been there, done that.

Almost every thread that starts as a meaningful discussion, gets turned into a FSX vs. FS9 thing, all because some people feel this psychological need to run down someone else. It's like watching agitated chickens run around a chicken coop.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian

I did that my thread got locked. After it went down hill.:) Let those that hate FSX yell and scream till its out of their system. All I ask is to stop trashing good posters who have helped us with some problems and calling others names over FSX.

Very nice synopsis of the situation. There is nothing more annoying than a good thread concerning valid issues getting hijacked by trolls whose sole intent is to start a flame war. Without good critical analysis and imperical data, many issues with the sim wouldn't get fixed.Ian.

I am a diehard fan of the Flight Simulator series, I fly FS98, 2000, 2004 (want 5 or 6 total operating), and am hoping to eventually get five FSX DLX (and want 10 X-Planes, plus Fly!2), but some things need to be complained about so that if Microsoft is able that they will fix these problems or change a policy to accommodate us better, so that we FS fans who spend very big bucks on this hobby can be CATERED TO IN THE MANNER TO WHICH WE HAVE BECOME ACCUSTOMED!!! Ha ha! A very big example of this is RETAIL Vista, Microsoft listened to their hardware enthusiast users and changed their RETAIL Vista EULA to allow unlimited re-activations due to hardware upgrades etc.Forums are for solving problems, when the problems go away, or become less major, then things will be back to normal. On the FS9 forums, there are nothing but problems listed, but they are ordinary small problems that are not that difficult to solve usually. Hopefully major problems will go away and we'll get back to simming.:-spacecraft

I totally agree with Kevins post, and couldn't have said it any better myself.Okay - I'll admit, I have started to skip the 'I hate FSX' or 'Going back to FS9' posts, but one's that have titles with 'Performance problem with FSX' or 'I fixed my problem' - I read, why? Because I might get some good information from it that could help me. It's taken me three weeks to get my FSX running how I wanted it, and much because of information on these forums. And for the game developers (ACES), the information (good and bad) could indeed prove invaluable. There is no question there are people who are having problems getting the game to run (or indeed installed) on their particular hardware. I'm sure ACES is extremely anxious to know the real opinion of the simming communities like this, and the issues and successes we have with FSX, since we are their core user base.So in my opinion, all posts welcome - good and bad regarding FSX

Actually, after using a few tools to tweak my system (what some would call the higher-end system), I've gotten FSX frame rates to settle in to about 18-24 fps with quite reasonable sliders (more than halfway) in about all of the default aircraft and several of the new for-FSX aircraft. Even on a couple of ported FS9 aircraft, such the RealAir Spitfire, which I wouldn't be without, and the I.R.I.S F-14.Now that's a pretty wordy couple of sentences, so I'll try to be a little more brief.I downloaded and installed the FSX patch for the Captain Sim 757. My frames rates, using the set up I describe above, went to 3.5 fps and were rock-solid except at O'Hare where they were about 1 frame per second. Even exponentially, it still comes out to 1 fps.I personally believe that add-on developers owe their customer base an honest appraisal lest they consider us prime candidates for being duped. I tried to communicate this to the vendor, and not to my surprise I haven't heard word one back from them. Obviously their customer support parallels the speed of their frame rates.I will never again purchase a Captain Sim product.Bart BartholomayDeacontg272

WEll if your fine with having half working , half hearted promises from your developer then maybe your the one who should have your own forum, we can call it dollar store memories.

Hey Bart, This the same Bart I know? WestStar, WestCoast? You bought the 757? Makes me feel better...I did too. Bought it for FS9 where it's a dog except for the visual and it's worse in FSX. I did however get the C-130 working fairly well. Hope all is well with you. Craig

Well, Jason, I certainly didn't think I gave "that" impression. In fact, I am totally disatisfied with them.As for the rest of your comments, I'm afraid I don't quite understand what they mean. Those who know me, know that I'm not one to mince words. The only reason I posted this here was that I couldn't find anywhere else with such a wide readership where the importance of knowing about this product's shortcomings could be heard.Aren't we in agreement there? And, Craig, tis one in the same. Cheers to you.Bart BartholomayDeacontg272

What exactly is the point of your post Jason? If you can't get your PC to run FSX that's your problem. Go back to your Gameboy. Craig

You complain about folks starting a flame war, and in the same breath refer to them as trolls.Do think before you type.BC

What is painfully obvious with all these discussions about FSX is that most people are spending most of their time tweaking instead of flying. Personally, I think that the FSX team should not be selling something which is unusable without spending countless hours to make it usable. This is the only software I know of that is deliberately designed not to work properly out of the box with current technology & with only a promise that things will get much better as time goes by. Of course, by that time, FX11 will be out and we'll be back in the same circus.I for one do not care in the least if this is going to work properly after I spend a few thousands to upgrade my hardware whenever the hardware has caught up with the software. I bought this software to fly now and not to keep it on the shelf for a few years or spend countless hours reading forums and trying to tweak it so that it becomes something other than a slide show.If Microsoft really wanted to provide a product that can be usable for many years and get better with time, then they have the technology to provide a one click solution to the problems that most of us are experiencing with this product. They could have provided a one or two clicks batch file of some sort that would implement all the tweaks necessary to make this sim flyable with current technology. Then at least we could fly right away with the knowledge that with time, the experience could get even better. I suspect that most of the customers who buy FSX have not the slightest interest in these endless discussions and just want to fly, period.Surely, the developers must have experienced many of the same problems we are having and if somehow they are able to configure the perfect system that will guarantee decent frame rates, then they should at least publish the exact specs for that hardware instead of keeping it secret. If they also do not have good enough hardware yet, then surely they would also have played with various downgraded configurations. Why not then make those configurations available & make it easy for their customers instead of luring unsuspecting new comers with their ludicrous commercials that imply 'you are going to think you are a real pilot'.Very likely some of you may reply & tell me how great FSX is for you. I'm sure that it must be for a few lucky ones who have the knowledge, patience, top of the line hardware & time to play with it and make it acceptable. All the discussions in the various forums prove that this does not apply to the majority of us. I'm sure FSX will be wonderful in a few years but most of us bought it to use now as it is, out of the box, with the only tweaking limited to playing with the various 'quality' sliders.
