November 21, 200619 yr He is the situationI have an amazing new computer that is producing really really low frame rates with fsx. I have followed the advice of others and have experimented with system tweaks including turning off all autogen, scenery, and AI.( stock aircraft) My frame rates using a minimized sliders are only 6-15 fps. My computer has dual ati1950 cards, raptor drives , 4gb of mem. Any ideas what might be holding up the processing.??On the smae machine running 5/6 addons in fs9.1 im seeing fps of 40-50. and thats with everything on full with a pmdg 747.wonderfully smooth.???? There must be some key inhibitor in fsxThoughts? Peter
November 21, 200619 yr Look around the board for help.Try Tweaks put in new AI remove your old AI back it up. Use your sliders try not to max everything out just because you have a new high powered computer. I know it must be tempting but any flight sim maxed out is taxing on a computer. After that you should do fine with FSX.

This baffles the mind.. How is that possible. I did not understand the comment you included on the AI.Seems strange that the very best I can get out of fsx is 14fps even with everything at min's. thank you Peter
November 21, 200619 yr You don't name the processor or the Mobo, but my advice would be take 2 gig of that RAM out. Also this is a Hardware question. Your topic will get moved soon, but you should post all such questions in the right forum, or else it leads to idiots having hissy fits because they think threads are being locked for `censorship` purposes. :)Allcott
November 21, 200619 yr We will need to know more about your computer specs. 14 fps with it on minimum sounds like a major problem some where that must be hardware not software related.A lot of people think FSX may be hindred on multi-core cpus. It maybe not reading the power of this cpus right even when they just use one core. Some posters have their Multi-core Cpus cranked up over 3ghz and still hitting a stone wall for some reason. Its something that ACES or Micro-soft is looking into from some of the post they have made.At 3ghz they should have no problems getting 30FPS almost anywhere with setting almost maxed excpet autogen, and traffic

November 22, 200619 yr Think of the kiddies who wanna have Fsx for Chistmas, with their reasonable P4, 3.0 Ghz... spoke to some on the FS weekend lately in the Netherlands.. how many will be dissapointed during those dark days, that even YOU with such a monster PC will not get decend fps.JohanA LITTLE LESS CONVERSATION, AND A LITTLE MORE ACTION PLEASE.."The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one - but still they come!"Ulla!

Your allway's better off using 2X2048 of the same version. 4 modules are slower and actually slow the system down.Good Luck

But with two cards running you can get great grpahics on two cards,It is great . seems a waste but I like an extended monitor conifg in fs.Now here is the issue, I dont think the problem is the hardware, becuase when I do run fs9.1 fully loaded I can see fps of 50-80 on this same computer, just differnet software and fsx gives me 6-15 with default settings. Now I did try fsx with the added line in the cfg file of;Fiber_Frame_Time_fraction=.33 and fps jumped for the smae config to 25Lastly on the comment of the speed of the front side bus, Is it something that is typically user changeable??BTW the motherboard is an Asus P5W DH Deluxe..Thanks for all of the help so farPeter
November 22, 200619 yr The 266MHz FSB is quad pumped within the CPU to give 1066MHz actual FSB. November 22, 200619 yr Just because you have a monster PC doesn't automatically mean great framerates. The more I read the more I see that the folks with the core duos seem to be having the most problems. Craig
November 22, 200619 yr Peter:In what resolution are you tying to run FSX? Have you updated to the latest ATI drivers? What are your X1950XTX core and mem speeds?
