Returning my G2 - anyone else?

Featured Replies

Kept my G1 and sold the G2 on eBay - RMA will take forever. My G1 gives me better clarity from left to right, top to bottom without moving my head

Could be a matter of head shape. Or the type of game you are using, maybe the Sweet Spot is actually better in certain FPS and racing games?

BTW, after having exchanged the gasket (eyes closer to the lenses) I find the Sweet Spot in P3D acceptable.

Well now I have the G2 and testing it. And my experience is that the sweet spot is very small indeed. For example when looking at the instruments the one I look at is sharp but just the instruments adjacent to that gets a bit blurry.

Do you mean you exchanged the gasket in a HP Reverb G2 ? If so which one did you get ? And when you say the sweet spot is acceptable in P3D is that since you have only tested it there ?

Yes, your experience was exactly as mine.
I exchanged the gasket with one for the Samsung Odyssey headset, but if I understand it correctly these are now hard to come by. There are other solutions, incl. self-built ones, on YouTube.

Yes, I've only tested the new gasket in P3D. I do not own other simulators. I guess getting your eyeballs closer to the lenses will improve the Sweet Spot in other flightsims  too.

I find it strange that moving the eyes closer to the lenses should affect the Sweet spot. Otherwise I have noted that wearing reading glasses improve things a little. But of course that could be a problem if the lenses get closer to my eyes. Other problem is that Samsung Odyssey is not sold here and thus I can hardly find its gasket here.
