Hi guys,

Has anyone purchased this addon, and how good is it.  I have seen the screenshots and I can not tell if the ground textures are low res like P3D version or everything is nice and good now.  I was so excited with the P3D but after buying it - I really hated it as the ground textures are low res.  And no way to disable it properly and never matched with Orbx Global openLC.

Looking for honest feedback on this product for the new sim.

It's hard to judge the addon unless I were to compare to default side-by-side with 2 monitors or something, so keep that in mind when I make this comment.

It's not bad, but I'm not sure what you mean by ground textures, the ground textures are going to be primarily from MSFS 2020, but maybe it includes some yards or something (I don't really notice)?

From what I can see, it is mostly just medium to low res buildings, it isn't bad but not my first pick if I were to look for an addon in the marketplace and were only buying a few. I mean we already have so many great buildings in this game, but I guess it depends how often you fly in DC and how much you prefer more custom buildings.

The DD Moscow one is higher fidelity.

I bought it today and did a quick flight just checking out some of the points of interest. The pois seemed to be quite detailed to me.  The rest of the buildings were definitely more detailed than the standard ones.  Also, my performance didn't suffer flying over the city.  I took off from Dulles, flew around the city and landed at Andrews.  Overall I'm quite happy with it.  I'll do some more flying around the city tomorrow.

It looks good from the right distance, but if you get too close...
I know most people are flying and not walking though 🙂

I agree.  If I look at the screenshots I took, I can see some imperfections, quality issues, etc.  I'm still happy with the product.  Just gives a little more 'real worldness' to the sim.  I'm flying around the northeast for a few days, so checking out what I can in the cities. 

Like you said, we're flying not walking.  😉

 

DC is very close to my area, so I really want a top notch product.  I guess I will have to buy this addon again.  I will try it again (though P3D version just needs high res ground textures...that is it...I dunno why they do not fix it).

Ohh..I see USA Update is out and one of the pics have DC.  I may get good DC for free after all.  Lets see.

Yah, some of the USA update and DD buildings are redundant, so that's another issue with it.

 

For me I found out, that the freeware (Photogrametry) ist realy not that bad when you make a flyby to the Airport or so.

Not the Quality of the payware, but enough for me.

But when you will take a look inside the houses, you had to pay.🤣

Will there an Update from DD after 20. Jan. 2021 ? 🤣

I did get this; the free Update by MS/Asobo is good but only thing was my house wasn't done right but the area next to my house was lol.  I did get the DD package, yep it the area around my house pretty well modelled. I wish they had upgraded KDCA.  In P3D they did improved KDCA but not in this package.  The freeware mod for KDCA is ok...it does need lots of work.

Why didn't DD do KDCA?  It is such an iconic airport and other I did notice that the metro and Acela trains are not moving - they are stationary.  It looks like the trains broke.  Wish it was modelled for animation, would have been super cool.  Lets see if they do updates for this package in the upcoming months.
