December 28, 20205 yr I have around 15 voices set to random mixture of Microsoft and ivona when I click the test I can hear then voice I have selected have tested them all and they all work Now when In flight and I get handed off to a new controller some times I get a different voice but most of the time I get the same one in the chat box it shows that it should have changed to a different voice any one know why it's not?
December 28, 20205 yr Author I have also noticed when I get to the hold point I am not getting the contact tower message not sure if this is related
December 28, 20205 yr Commercial Member If the selected voice shown in the chat box can't load for any reason, P2A uses the default voice. So if you're getting a lot of this, the voices it can't load may be installed incorrectly or having some other issue. If you're not getting the transfer to tower automatically, it is most likely that you are not close enough to the takeoff runway hold point. This happens more often at runways with multiple entrances to the end of the runway. You can press the Taxi button to the right of the map and look for a very small black triangle at the end of the taxi route. You need to be close to that to get the auto handover. You can just tell Ground you are ready for departure and you will get sent to tower. But if you aren't positioned close to that triangle, you'll get sent back to ground. So, even if you have to creep over the hold short line, be sure that you get close to the triangle. Dave
February 26, 20224 yr Can someone explain this 'Use Random Voices' thing to me. It was a feature that I looked forward to for quite awhile but I don't understand its implementation. In the Voices tab I have different voices assigned to all the controller positions, works as expected, those are the voices for those positions - they are always the voices for those positions. So now, I have check the box for the 'Use Random Voices', yet I have never heard a controller other then the ones assigned above. Ok, so now I see the Add button, and I add a name and assign a voice - I have never heard that voice used in an communications. When this feature was added I was hoping that P2A looked at all the available voices, and 'randomly' utilized them for the different controllers. So, if I have like 10 voices installed it would use a randomly selected one in randomly selected controller slot. I guess not. So how does this work again?? February 28, 20224 yr Got a reply from Dave (really fantastic support) 1. If you have voices assigned to the actual controller slots (top part of the Voices dialog box) and you have the Use Random Voices selected, which one has priority - pre selected or random? "If a voice is assigned to a specific controller or the copilot, then that voice is not available as a random voice. The only way you might hear it as a random voice is if it is the default Windows voice and the Random voice fails to load." 2. I see there is a way to Add a random voice, which you have to assign a name. However, is there a way to see a list of the random voices you have previously assigned using the Add function? "Adding Random voices is just reusing available voices so you can change the speed or volume of the voice and make it seem like a different voice. You should give it a name you can recognize as an added voice and then you can see it in the Random voice drop-down window."
