Cannot Launch MSFS 2020 Plus an oddity!!!

Featured Replies

Not touched the sim for 24hrs. Went to start this evening and it would not launch. The .exe would not cooperate with a box stating something that my system cannot access it. I went through the folders to find my saved flights, as it is possible to launch from one of them... Ouch, it did start up, but it was FSX!!!!!! When looking more closely yes, they were pointing to FSX, Bizarre.

Have now rebooted PC and launched MSFS, but when checking for updates it has now started to install v.1.12.13.0. Again bizarre as I already have this update!

Anyone had this scenario?

Thanks

Martin

You cleared your community folder as well?

This happened to me when I launched it just now, too.

It re downloaded the last update and installed it.

At first I thought wow sweet a stealth update, but it’s the same prior version?!?!

@ryanbatcund using addon linker, MSFS would not launch from there, it would not launch from the shortcuts for MSFS.exe, which I designed to bypass addon linker with the community folder empty via symbolic links. Hence I went straight to the folder housing the msfs.exe, which also failed.

On rebooting the PC was when I found that it wanted to reinstall v.1.12.13.0. from the reload everything was as it was before and I was able to launch using my different shortcuts.

In view of what @Cmcollazo71 has said, it begs the question if stealth fixes are in play here!

Edit: See towards the end of the thread, where someone mentions an addition to the last update...
