January 31, 20215 yr Hey guys I’m building a p3d rig and would like some advice on which cpu too get I was planning too get the i7-9700k but I just realised that it doesn’t have hyper threading would my sim (p3dv5) have any critical performance issues if so please let me know what are your thoughts and also what cpu would u recommend intel only as my mobo is a intel chipset thank you!
January 31, 20215 yr HT won't do a lot for you in P3D on an 8-core CPU. There's certainly no critical performance difference between the two. IMHO, the 9900K's most significant advantage for P3D over the 9700K is 33% more (16MB vs 12 MB) L3 cache. The 9700K remains a good CPU choice for P3D...the 9900K is a bit better. Whether that is worth the price premium depends on what's important, and should be consistent with other design choices, like CPU cooling and RAM. In addition to what the prior posts stated, which I also see exactly like that. I am running at a i9 10900K with HT OFF and an AffinityMask to run the sim on 8 of 10 cores. And I am using VR! So I think you should stay with 9700k or if you want to "spent some money", go for the newest generation Intel instead. P3D is not so good with HT. Most of us are not benefitting from it but more likely suffering from more stutters. Marcus Edited January 31, 20215 yr by mpo910 Regards, Marcus P.
January 31, 20215 yr Author Thank you for the information I’ll definitely look into the cpu and as for the paring of other components here’s my parts list I think I might have too just get another gpu and upgrade the cpu later if anything does it look like I’m bottle necking because of my gpu? https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/list/RHPq9N
February 7, 20215 yr I agree with others here. I am (still) running the i7 - 8700k 6-core and have had HT turned 'off' to get the best performance from P3D. rgds, JB 9800x3d, ASUS TUF x870, 64GB G.Skill DDR5, MSI Ventus 4080, HP Reverb G2 VR, FlyVirtual.net, Private Pilot SEL rating, subLogic FlightSim 1983 & every release since

February 8, 20215 yr The 10850K runs P3D very well. Haven't tried MSFS on it yet. i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440
