February 13, 20215 yr Hello, So my issue is the Reality XP GTN 750 crashing my P3Dv5 quite regularly. When I say regularly I do not mean at a specific intervals, but every flight at different intervals. I have done several troubleshooting steps: Reinstall both the sim and the GTN750, Reduced Graphics, Turned on and off the texture compression (to save Vram), set up custom Graphics options in my GPU controller, and so on. To make sure it was the GTN and not P3D just being P3D I have done tests with three different Aircraft, which have all crashed at different intervals. This test was done using the Citation 550 (Carenado), Falcon 50 (FlySimWare), and the CJ4 (NextGen). The Citation was used with both the stock and F1 Configs, the Falcon with the GTN config, and the CJ4 has no config. The CJ4 and the 550 crashed pretty quickly (30 minutes to 1 hour in fight around 75% of the time). The Flacon was kind of all over the place. Some crashes even happened before starting the engines on the plane(s). I tried to grab P3D error logs however It never produced one (and I have the option switched on in the settings). I also monitored my system background values and everything was normal. My VRAM never even went past 8gb once. Usually sits at 7-7.5 with the Dynamic Texture Streaming off and 6.7 with it on. As I mentioned above I ran tests this also included running the same routes, time, and planes as the above tests were ran in, with the GTN fully removed from every plane. No crashes once I did this. So I can safely assume it is the GTN causing the CTD's. I have done a few other things but basically I'm tapped out of ideas. Thanks for any help provided. Yuri-

February 13, 20215 yr Author Hello Bert, Thanks for replying! Yes I have checked all the .log files in Documents and no information. I'm running a few more tests as we speak. I found a thread a few pages back with another user had crashes as well. Trying his fix and see what happens. Will update on what happens. Yuri-
February 13, 20215 yr I recently had rxp crashes both in p3d and xp11 too. For me it looks like it was a bogus garmin trainer setup noticeable with gtn sim exe as faulting app in the event viewer. If you see same errors a reinstall of the trainer could be helpful. (Just uninstall garmin trainer and do a reinstall rxp gtn which will trigger a redownload of the correct supported trainer). Cheers T. Edited February 18, 20215 yr by RXP
February 14, 20215 yr Author Hello, So an update. I managed to fly two Falcon 50 flights with the GTN Texture configuration(added GTN option in the panel manager). The other two planes (550 and CJ4) are still crashing with the GTN integrated and not in a window. I'm trying a flight now with the CJ4 with the GTN 750 in a window instead of in a panel. From the videos and all I have watched it should not be a problem to add the GTN into panel screen slots but I guess we will see. Oh and I have updated to the latest version of GTN which was released yesterday I believe. Yuri-

Hello Torsen, Well I have done some more tests when I have the time and I took a screenshot of my event viewer. Sadly it was P3d crashing (seemingly) and not GTN. I will post the screenshot in this reply. Spoiler Edited February 18, 20215 yr by RXP

Should you share the content of the event viewer crash report, it is valuable information for us. There are some Garmin trainer crashes we can correct sometimes in re-coding the faulty trainer code (they had a bug with their sound bank for many versions in the past trying to reference a non existing sound for example).

Hi Jean-Luc, sadly I have had only a few short flights that were ok. Not predicatble looks like but several different freezing sims errors in the event viewer all related to GTN Simulator.exe. I do see the crashes both in P3Dv5 AND XP11. And its not related to a special instance of an aricraft by a special vendor. I'm on the latest AMD drivers and Win10pro rel 2004. As I can do hours without any crash as long as I'm not loading the GTNs into service I'm a bit puzzled with your links. Could you elaborate a bit please? Cheers and Thanks T. February 16, 20215 yr There is definitely a bug/issue with the AMD driver and OGL when the driver is trying to write into a read-only memory location or to an address it shouldn't access, as indicated in the event viewer. Please note although XP11 and P3D are not using OGL, the GTN is. Could you try running an older version of the AMD driver to cross check? This could prove solving the problem for now and giving hints to report back to AMD.
February 16, 20215 yr Puh ok... As the problem started longer ago (me think at least December or ealier), I abandoned p3d and spent a lot of time in msfs in the meantime and recently thrown in xp11 again I will try to find an older driver release. I'll keep you posted. Cheers T.
February 16, 20215 yr Once you do find an older and better one, it might be a good idea to also post a report to the AMD forum, and in the meantime of an updated driver, there is a workaround which might allow you running with both the older atioglxx.dll and the newest AMD driver suite like this: https://steamcommunity.com/app/208200/discussions/0/846958724796395601/ I've also forgotten to add: even if you're using XP11 in Vulkan, the plugin drawing interface is still OpenGL (XP11 handles a OGL -> Vulkan bridge internally). This bug in the driver is making me wondering what about running XP11 in OGL mode without any GTN plugin and whether the same kind of driver bug would trigger.

This bug in the driver is making me wondering what about running XP11 in OGL mode without any GTN plugin and whether the same kind of driver bug would trigger. I followed the steps in the link provided (using the method for the R7's) and the game still crashes. It did however crash instantly the first crash and the second time it crashed normal (for me). Just to make sure it wasn't the new .DLL I ran a flight without the GTN and it did not crash. This is still P3Dv5. I will do another flight in the Falcon 50 today when I wake up and try to see if I can crash the sim while flying it with GTN. It is curious that for some reason it is the only plane I can get to work with it. The only real difference (aside from internal coding) I can tell is it has no LCD or Digital screen (except for a VS indicator), unlike the CJ4 and 550 I fly. It probably has nothing to do with it but just throwing that out here seeing as from my limited perspective it is the only noticeable visual difference.
February 18, 20215 yr @YuriHime You might want to try enabling the RXP GTN additional debugging options and see whether this gives some useful information in the RXP log files. In the [GTN_750_1] section of the RXP ini file in your aircraft folder, add the following (if you're using the GTN 750 Unit1): [GTN_750_1] ...LogTrainer = 5 DebugValue = 1 See RXP GTN User's Manual p26 for more information
