February 13, 20215 yr Not really sure what happened but lately, I have an issue where the view when I'm in VR keeps moving small amounts up/down and left/right even when I keep my head perfectly still. Super annoying and makes it rather uncomfortable to be in VR. This happens regardless what aircraft I'm in or at what location. I'm using an HP Reverb G2, a 3090 and an 8086K @ 5 GHz, 32 GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM. Spent a considerable amount of time a couple of weeks ago fine-tuning everything to be perfectly smooth but still with good visuals. I haven't changed any settings or done any other changes to my setup. So I'm a bit stumped what is causing this. Anyone else seen anything similar? The only thing I can think of is if there maybe was some Windows or WMR update I'm not aware of that is now causing this. Edited February 13, 20215 yr by WebMaximus
February 13, 20215 yr Have you tried resetting your G2 boundary? Sometimes I lose the Z axis and the whole world moves with me and sometimes jitters about when I lean forward and backward. Do you have any LED lights in the room that weren't turned on previously, or are on a dimmer which are now dimmed (but weren't before)? Are the lenses on the front cameras clean? February 13, 20215 yr Author I don't have a boundary set since I'm only using the headset seated. I've tried cleaning the camera lenses but they already seemed fine. As for lights they are all the same but I actually just came to think of something. We recently had the walls repainted where I have my PC. Not a huge difference in color though, slightly more light color than before. One more thing possibly could be how it's brighter inside with all the white snow we have right now where I live in combination with the sun shining. Will do some more testing tonight when it's dark outside. That will at least rule out the last thing. Very annoying issue since it takes away most of the fun using VR but I hope I'll eventually find the culprit.
February 13, 20215 yr When I say I need to reset the boundary, I'm referring to the seated/stationary boundary, like you are using. It may be worth setting the option again just in case that's all it is.
February 13, 20215 yr Author Yep, you might be right a reset might be a good idea. Worth a try for sure 👍
February 13, 20215 yr The headtracking is very sensitive. I also see a small movement but it's my heartbeat 🙂
February 13, 20215 yr Author Gave it another go after resetting the boundary and it actually seemed better. Could also be because it wasn't as bright in the direction of the windows to my right any longer. Maybe a reminder to enjoy the real sun during daytime and VR during evenings and nighttime 😉

Absolutely, these are my settings which seem to work fine in most situations (except for when I see the issue discussed here). Pretty sure that isn't related to performance though but rather tracking as discussed. First, this is how I have OpenXR DT set And here are the graphics and traffic settings in VR in MSFS Finally, in NCP this is the only thing I changed and I'm on driver version 457.30. Heard all driver versions for the 30 series card later than this one are buggy and cause both stuttering as well as other issues. This might have changed though since then. However, since this one seems to work fine I haven't bothered checking later driver versions.

I have traffic a bit higher. Shadows higher and trees higher. I find that turning on motion reprojection makes it way easier on the eyes and smoother, but introduces some weird glitches with the prop and some menus. It also causes a rubber banding effect. Overall I’d say I’m happy. I am still getting used to the bluriness of it all. Feels like I’ve forgotten to put my specs on! I’m slowly learning to focus the sweet spot where I want to be looking. One thing I have noticed is that you can reduce the LOD because you can’t really see what’s happening in the distance anyways....... I wonder if the same could be said about trees etc? I hope they optimise VR some more, because if we could get more frames and motion reprojection working then we could up the render scale and that would be amazing!
February 13, 20215 yr Author Yep, having a good VR experience is an act of balance. Even when you have powerful hardware. As you say, hopefully we'll see further optimizations as we go along. For being version 1.0 sort of speak, I think Asobo did a great work with the VR implementation. I do hope we'll get hand controller support though. Especially when we'll get airliners from PMDG etc later on. Not that tempted manipulating all switches and knobs on the overhead panel etc using the mouse. As for shadows and trees, I didn't see much of an improvement going any higher. For the trees, I found increasing that slider didn't increase the quality of the trees. Rather the amount of trees. Interesting what you say about motion reprojection. Some people seem to prefer having it enabled and others not. I might play around with that one a bit more. I'm also playing around with setting a custom render scale in OpenXR and move that slider down a bit to like 70-80% and instead increase the slider in MSFS to 100%. I know many people have it that way. All in all, I think what we have right now with VR support in such a stunning flight simulator, this is really good times for us flight simmers!

Keeps the sweet spot bigger.
