An (adversly) performance issue

Can i ask what's direct storage?

The GPU can read textures directly from storage (preferably fast storage), rather than having to pass through RAM. This is one of the technologies that the Xbox Series consoles use to improve performance.

I'm not expecting a 100% performance increase or something, maybe around 5-10 percent average, but given that it'll be free and included in a future Windows update, it'll be a nice performance bump. I'm not sure if it's game-by-game support, I doubt it, but if it is, MSFS and other Xbox first-party titles will be sure to use it.

Also cool, my 100th post here.

Yep NVME drives. i use 2 of them first one for  where the OS and 1.5gig install go and the second one  where the main folder and files are. They do offer a tiny speed increase Not 100% more like 10-20 percent in real life performance which is about 1-2 seconds load times. Good drives and not worth going back to SSDs.

Thanks for the clarification.

The thing is we don't know when that technology will come out for PCs, as you know, what you're seeing right now is still old tech.

I might've oversimplified DirectStorage a bit too much, this (4 mins) should explain it way better than I ever could -

Streaming by passing the CPU. Never knew this. Cant be far off for PCs now if its in the console universe. Thanks for this.

I have been pleasantly surprised with the performance of my rig with a 1080TI, I only have an older 42 inch 1080P LED TV that doesn't seem to handle motion too well if it isn't hitting 60fps so that is what I try and maintain which for the most part I can achieve with pretty decent settings. That is with the TBM or Longitude flying in or out of regional airports, I do not tend to fly the A320 as it is pretty hard on my system so I stick to the Flight Factor A320 in X-Plane 11 for the heavy metal. Mind you low and slow is so much more enjoyable in MSFS 2020

I am hoping to change my main TV in the summer to a 65 inch 4K and for word not alloweds and giggles I will try that first and I will probably end up with my 55 inch Panasonic on my sim which is still a really nice TV even at 1080P

As others have said the importance of a well balanced system is paramount. I am hopeful there will be some good optimizations in the future, I still seem to have headroom with my system so fingers crossed.

Hello dear fellow simmers and friends,I have an issue with my performance but this time I am not going to complain about that I am getting low fps or stutters. In fact just the opposite.I have a deck of i7-6700K 16GB (DDR4) RAM with nvidia gtx 1080ti btw running on windows 10. I usually get 40~50 fps with this setup at high-end graphics settings at 2K resoulution. What I am going to ask you guys is, when I set the settings to "low-end" I still get 40 ot 50 fps. Strangely I see no performance increase..

I don't count frames but I get the same smooth performance on ultra as I do on high. The only difference is that my rtx3080 runs about 15 to 20-degrees hotter on ultra and higher resolution, but same GPU utilization which seems strange.

Only in flight simulation will those words ever be said...
