February 28, 20215 yr Two CTD's in a row on the same flight over the UK from EGCC to EGSC. I am starting to think the UK is haunted.

There are quite a lot of ghost stories which kick around Manchester Airport, some pretty freaky ones among them. I got told about a few of them when I worked there and one or two people I worked with said they'd seen some of these ones. I never saw any of that stuff when I worked there although I've seen some freaky stuff in other places which I really struggle to come up with an explanation for, including one apparition which actually saved my life (yes, really). 😮 Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
February 28, 20215 yr I landed at Tokyo Narita RJAA and taxied around an no CTD. I thought the Issue of these CTDs were not fixed by MS due to their new Bing data being updated. which introduced these CTD issues about week prior to the update. Remember? I have no issues. But I have not tried flying in the UK post Update 3. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

This is starting to get on my nerves frankly. Edited February 28, 20215 yr by Bobsk8

If it tends to run eight flights and then lock up, that would point toward something 'filling up' like maybe the data streaming capacity? Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

But I have not tried flying in the UK post Update 3. I fly pretty much exclusively in the UK for my air hauler contracts, and have flown all over the UK and ireland since the Update3, around 40 hours. I have various freeware airports and all the Orbx UK stuff and haven't had a CTD since update 3. (Actually I haven't had a CTD ever in this sim, because when I saw the issues pre-update 3 I just unloaded ay Custom content for a few days and kept calm and carried on 🙂 ) Probably important though to remember that if you do change your custom content, or there is a major patch to follow the instructions and delete any caches you may have if you use those (personally I don't) We have 2 computers in this house with MSFS2020 on them.. ones an older dell Inspiron with a 1060 card, one is my machine.. specs below, and neither machine has had an issue or a CTD since August last year on the DEll, and December last year on this one. Graham System specs... CPU AMD5950, GPU AMD6900XT, ROG crosshair VIII Hero motherboard, Corsair 64 gig LPX 3600 mem, Air cooling on GPU, Kraken x pump cooling on CPU. Samsung G7 curved 27" monitor at 2k resolution ULTRA default settings.

This is the main reason I'll never get rid of my Xplane. I was thinking of uninstalling Xplane when I got MSFS on release day but thank goodness I didn't. I mean,..just look at how the Microsoft Servers went belly-up a couple of weeks ago which stopped everyone from connecting, disaster, there's something very reassuring about Xplane (or any other Sim) that doesn't rely on Servers. Except when using Live Weather of course.

Except when using Live Weather of course. Strange how we all have different experiences. One of the reasons I stopped using Xplane was the constant CTD's, just with the default Cessna even. First flight load-up was fine, but if I tried to change the slightest thing or do a second flight - bang - hello desktop! Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. Yes, I get your point about the servers - it is a concern with anything that relies upon them. I have Steam games that are vulnerable as well, but luckily, it doesn't happen very often, whereas CTD's, whichever flight sim you use, are a constant annoyance, and you can never have any confidence you can finish a flight. Except when using Live Weather of course. I downloaded the X Plane demo last night and played around with it a bit. I flew the default 172, and the view out the windscreen was horrible compared to FS2020. Nothing was really crisp, looked like the windscreen hadn't been cleaned in 20 years. After FS 2020, it was certainly a letdown for me. The P3D I had on my old PC was so much nicer looking.

I think I have decided that this is the attitude I have to adopt. If it CTDs, take a break and just start over. I suspect this is a server issue to, and I posted that about a week ago on the MSFS forum. Several members agreed with me.
