If its definitively proven... then first update Realtek driver and Nvidia drivers, and if that doesn't work obviously uninstall it. Even if there is a "well documented issue" for the vast majority it wont be an issue. And Realtek and Nvidia should have dealt with the issue by now. Uninstalling the driver "just in case" is a choice, an unnecessary one. Not an issue for me because I don't install it in the first place...but it appears that the "experts" here have determined that not installing something you don't need and don't want taking up disk space is not acceptable. I'm curious if the nvidia drivers were several 100 GB's would you folks still install it even though you don't want it, need it, or use it? i7-6700k • Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 • 32GB DDR4 2666 • EVGA FTW ULTRA RTX3080 12GB

That is NOT what I said at all. I did not say anything of the sort! I said that to deliberately "switch it off" (ONCE INSTALLED) which was the term used, isn't necessary. isn't necessary because its unlikely to be an issue if installed, isn't necessary because, by now, Nvidia/Realtek will have fixed any conflict. Now, the dictionary definition of "isn't necessary" is not "don't disable" or "you must install". We are all free to do what we feel appropriate. its not compulsory to install or uninstall, do what you like. I also said that if you have evidence its an issue once installed, then obviously uninstall it. If you haven't installed it in the first place, then clearly none of the above applies to you. If you don't want to install something that takes up limited space, because you believe the minimal space saved is useful to you, then that's your business and not relevant to anything debated here. Please don't misrepresent my words. Quote I'm curious if the nvidia drivers were several 100 GB's would you folks still install it even though you don't want it, need it, or use it? Of course not. And not relevant, the driver takes up minimum space so offers little advantage to uninstall. Its also unlikely that any conflict will occur. But if uninstalling it or not installing it in the first place crumbles your cookie, then go for it. Edited March 4, 20215 yr by martin-w
March 5, 20215 yr I've had cases (more than once) where I do an install of new nvidia drivers, select to NOT install the audio drivers and it does anyway. Verified by going to devices menu and I see the sound device active. I then right click to disable it. I continue to recommend anybody do the same if they are not using it. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

I don't recomend disabling it and I don't recomend not disabling it. I simply say its very rarely necessary to disable. Everybody is free to do what they like with their PC's.
