December 26, 200619 yr Author I'd be very interested to know how the new version performs in multiplayer, one area we did not test. Is it reasonably smooth in MP?Thanks very much for any info you can give.Kind Regards,Rob Young - RealAir Simulations Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
December 26, 200619 yr The Aircraft performs good in Multiplayer. no issues so far. Guages are as good its in regular flight.BTW How do you set flaps other than 20 and 50 (The max)? I am unable to set it at 30 for instance. Not to take anything away from this masterpiece, but the VC night panel lighting. IMO, this is an area that could do with some eye candy improvements. The guages are bright while everything else is dark. The subtle lighting like you find in the default FSX caravan seem to be missing. I think.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
December 27, 200619 yr A nice little touch if you haven't tried it. Pull the mixture-stay in best glide mode-notice the prop windmilling-now bring it up to a gradual stall-prop stops completely! Lots of little things on this plane that are amazing. I did see what looks like a mirror on the right wingtip for nosewheel down confimation? (my plane has one on the left cowling for this). Didn't see a reflection there...darn...http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
December 27, 200619 yr Author Hi Manny,Thanks for the multiplayer feedback which is encouraging to hear. The flaps in the SF260 are two position-only. There is no incremenetal control.I agree that the backlighting does not achieve the subtleties of the FS9 version, but this is mainly because FSX is extremely bright, and sometimes almost blindingly so compared with FS9. There is also more contrast so it is quite difficult to achieve a similar effect.Kind Regards,Rob Young Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
December 27, 200619 yr Author Hi Geofa,Yes there is a mirror on the forward bit of the right wing tank. This is to check (in the real SF260) that the gear is safely down.Kind Regards,Rob Young Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
December 27, 200619 yr Yes,the BEST got BETTER!RealAir's (Rob's) work is allways remarkable, and this SF260 is yet another excellent example of what tallent, perseverance and dedication allow one to achieve, even when it is based on a bugy FM...Great work Rob - THANK YOU!I look forward for the Dutchess now.... Please hurry up ;-)FOR LARRY ADAMSON:What scenery are you using on that great shot? It is not from X-Plane, I believe ... ;-)
December 27, 200619 yr >>What scenery are you using on that great shot? It is not from>X-Plane, I believe ... ;-)Stock FSX with FSGenesis mesh.
December 28, 200619 yr Hmm, spent an hour reading this thread and reviews and went out and bought it. Sweet!!!!! 1st time I spun that puppy I was wishing for a barf bag, can only describe it as exhilarating :D This is one sweet plane and after an hour of flying time I can tell it's gonna replace my DreamFleet Cardinal as my plane of choice. But now I've got a problem, I fulfilled a 30-year old dream 3 weeks ago and bought a gorgeous Les Paul Standard, done nothing but play guitar since then. No flying, no gaming, nothing! Now I'm gonna have to find time to service two mistresses ;)Thanks for this fantastic plane Rob!
December 28, 200619 yr Author Hi Manny,Sorry I forgot to answer this before. All new aircraft are on hold until we complete all the updates, but we intend to resume the Duke as soon as possible after that.Kind Regards,Rob Young Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
January 1, 200719 yr This is one amazing piece of addon!!! I never thought I'm buying anything for FSX in the next few months, but as I managed to get running smoothly with all the tweaks available, I just couldn't resist. And I don't regret it - the SF260 runs smooth and the features are amazing. The wings are so detailed and the flight dynamics are awesome.I have a question too - why do we have to change the realism settings? I did not find that much difference using full real and the ones provided in the manual and it's really uncomfortable to change them back when you want to switch to another plane.Happy new year!
January 1, 200719 yr Author Hi Georg,Without setting realism to maximum you won't be able to spin or sideslip the SF260. Setting the slider just a fraction less than maximum still disables the spin capability. But, even if you do not want to spin and just wish to cruise or practice patterns, setting the realism slider to less than fully right will result in rate of roll, pitch and yaw not quite as we intended. In essence the further left you place the realism slider, the more "dumbed-down" the flight model will be. This is not always the case: some aircraft are designed for a particular slider position, a notable example being helicopters which tend to fly better with the slider between halfway and two thirds. We don't recommend setting maximum realism to inconvenience you, but to encourage FSX and FS9 to deliver more realistic flight behaviour.Kind Regards,Rob Young - RealAir Simulations Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
January 1, 200719 yr Hi Rob!That's actually not what I meant. I read the manual which came with the SF260 and there was a picture showing how the realism settings should be. I always keep all those selectors in the full right position, but for some reason your picture asks to put some of these to the middle position instead of full. I was wondering why I cannot keep them all in full real? Those instructions are on page 5 in the flying guide and in that picture only General realism is max, P-factor and torque are a bit less than half; gyro and crash tolerance are totally zero.
January 1, 200719 yr Author Hi Georg,I see what you mean and apologise for misinterpreting your original post. P-factor, Torque and other settings are down to you. We reckon P-factor and torque is about right anywhere between one third and two thirds.FS is not known as a great simulator of Gyro drift so we leave this out of our recommendations. The only setting we strongly recommend is general realism at maximum.Kind Regards,Rob Young Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
January 1, 200719 yr Hey,I see now. However, does it do any bad if I keep them all at max? I just want to keep it fully realistic for other planes and find it a bit uncomfortable to always change when I want to fly SF260 and then something else.
January 1, 200719 yr Author Hi Georg,We all have to move sliders occasionally ;)Not all but some other addon aircraft have their own recommendations. The p-factor slider will affect how much the Sf260 drifts to the left on take off and at high angles of attack, the torque slider less so.Kind Regards,Rob Young Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
