My (very) first A/C with RXP GTN 750...

Featured Replies

Prompted and inspired by a FSX/SE post by <fppilot>, I thought to myself, it is (has been) surely educative e.g. to learn, virtually, in the SIM, about (and navigate with) (advanced) Airliner FMSs/CDUs, and also about creating INS Flightplans by typing in (manually and tediously...) LAT/LONG co-ordinates into the CDU, but, how about learning a bit about the latest GTN Flight Navigators...🙂...? So, last week, I got for myself, a RXP GTN 750 unit. For those un-initiated (of which I'm a very good example) into such systems, these GTNs are indeed powerful avionics solutions, but, most, pleasingly and conveniently, for me, for their novel "touchscreen" interface (the "T" in "GTN" stands for Touchscreen). Here are a bit of fun facts: GNS 430/430 were introduced in 1998, Garmin G1000 in 2004 (we simmers saw G1000 in FSX), and the GTN 650/750 were released by Garmin, 7 years later, in 2011.

So, I spent a couple of hours, this week, roaming the Forums...no shortage of information, obviously, and it could easily overwhelm one, if one is new. But, for now, taking a short-cut (i.e. no MODs etc. till later...🙂...), I recalled, having read, in my Flysimware F-50 manual, that they have provided a simple management tool to quickly replace their (default) GPS GNS 530 with another GNS or GTN unit. Please see one screenshot of this (flexible) user interface, and it took me just a couple of clicks to (neatly) replace the pre-existing GNS 530 in the VC with my (new) unit of RXP GTN 750...it all definitely looks better, now...🙂...

And, as a test, I created a NZCH->NZQN flightplan (see MAP) on SimBrief (in *.gfp) format and uploaded it into this GTN 750. Please note one of the waypoints in the sequence, the 3rd WPT "Locked" appears, as I understand, because, it could not be found, here, in my current DB, and I've seen information about such errors, and will review and fix it later...

Anyway, learning and fun continues...starting probably. with the Garmin Trainer that came with the RXP GTN...for loading and practicing Approaches etc. with my new device.......

Please see, below, a few screenshots of the Falcon 50, with this RXP GTN 750, (custom) integrated into its Center-Pedestal/VC.

Thanks for your interest...!

The flysimware Falcon is a really nice addon....  textures were a little dated imo but still a good addon.  Have you tried their Learjet?  That is one of the best addons for P3D...also works with the RXP GTN.

Nice pics btw!

Yes, Ryan, I'd got their Learjet during one of the recent past SALE. I'd forgotten about the Lear35...🙂...Glad you mentioned GTN 750 integration for it....That might be actually a good plane to fly an approach using the GTN 750. I read a bit just now in the Lear35 manual e.g. when a GPS LNAV approach is selected, the GTN 750 warns you that it's for visual (Glide Slope) only. Good stuff to try and play with...will get to it eventually...

Thank you...!

Great results!  Perseverance does pay off, and then come the rewards!  Enjoy.  Fully enjoy!

Thanks, folks...!

Frank:

I'm not much of a "Forum Trotter" these days...🙂...except occasional visits to the new SIM Forum, but, I've been lately perusing a bit, the RXP GTN Forums...kudos to you folks, for answering people's questions...there....much has been said and answered, for newbies, I can tell...

And, this, here, was more a stroke of luck than perseverance...I would say...real perseverance would have to come later  when I actually learn and attempt (some manually) the myriad Approach procedures, that this advanced GTN 750 can allow us virtual simmers to practice, on our desktop. BTW, following Ryan's tip, I also equipped my Flysimware Lear35, with the GTN 750, in place of its default GNS 530, (thanks to a similar easy Management Tool, for Lear35). Please see below, for a few screenshots, of the Lear35.

Anyway, this has opened a new area of interest, for me. I'll enjoy it slowly and steadily. I've now 2 Jets, and just need a Turboprop...🙂...fitted with this GTN, maybe one of those Carenado A/C...🙂...we'll see...

Thanks again..., and I'm certainly glad I purchased this unit...(better late than never)...!

How did you integrated RXP GTN 750? using Flysimware tool or RXP auto-detect function? I used this second one but my screen is non full, but cutted in the middle so I can't access the complete screen like yours. Any suggestion for solution?

Hi Riccardo:

Oh boy...this is a post from nearly a year and half ago...🙂...Anyway, thanks for your interest in (and query about) it...

I'm no expert on custom installation of GTN units into GA a/c, but, as I recall this FlySimWare (Falcon 50) has provided a simple executable tool that effortlessly installs either 1 or 2 units of GTN into the a/c. I've shown a shot of their (intuitive) GUI interface above...

Please note that other GA a/c, e.g., from Carenado, as far as I know, comes ready with a supplied executable that "directly" works for only e.g., Flight1 GTN750 or/and RXP GNS530...but RXP GTN 750 can also be added into those [VC]s with special/supplemental instructions...which would look neat and NOT cut-off as you mention...

[ryanbatc and fppilot, around here, are experts on that kind of customized (GTN) additions...btw, you can pose your question in the dedicated RXP GTN Subforum, and you'll get quick replies there for what you're exactly looking for...Good luck and have fun...!]
