April 25, 20215 yr Hello, I have just upgraded my motherboard and CPU and getting great results on quality and performance but have a question about my ram usage. As it builds up through a flight to over 95% would I get any benefit by adding another 32GB ram? AMD Ryzen 7 5800X on ROG CROSSHAIR VIIl DARK HERO (AM4), Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 V2 OC and 32 GB Vengeance Pro Ram 3600MHz. DELL Alienware AW3420DW 3440x1440 and DELL U2414H
April 25, 20215 yr Based on the reports seen here in the forum which I remember, there would be no improvement over 32 GB. The sim is supposed to implement DX12 sometime in the future, and then it might change a lot of things like that. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
April 25, 20215 yr More RAM is always better, but you have to balance it against the cost. I have 32GB but cannot afford to go to 64GB. Some say there is a slight benefit if you have an RTX 3090 and run at ultra settings and 4k (basically the top settings you can get). The short answer is that MSFS will use whatever RAM you have, whether it is 8 GB, 16 GB, or 32 GB. Stuttering / pauses / frame rate issues tend to be due to other issues if you already have 32 GB. This is the only application where I needed to set a large swap file though (16 GB), so look at that also. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's. Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.
April 25, 20215 yr Hi OP - I have the same ram and clock, and I haven't had major pauses since the updates in earlier April, even after April 22 hotfix. They appear to have fixed something that suits my config with WIn 21h1 and with the latest Nvidia driver it's about the best performance I've had so far. I haven't tried 1909 yet.
