June 3, 20215 yr Does anyone own the Xtremeprototypes Lear 25 in P3D 4/5? If so is it a worthwhile plane to set aside 60 bucks for? Thanks
June 3, 20215 yr Moderator I’ve used it in v4 and v5. Very nice flight model and superb virtual cockpit but still quite a challenging aircraft as its power to weight ratio is high. Easily capable of climb rates of 5,000+fpm. Be aware the strobe, taxi and landing lights have a significant impact on the GPU but this appears only to affect those running in 4K and only some airports like Bilbao, Spain (LEBB). Ray (Cheshire, England). System: P3D v5.3HF2, Intel i9-13900K, MSI 4090 GAMING X TRIO 24G, Crucial T700 4Tb M.2 SSD, Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Hero, 32Gb Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000Mhz RAM, Win 11 Pro 64-bit, BenQ PD3200U 32” UHD monitor, Fulcrum One yoke, Fulcrum Throttle Quadrant. Ray, did you install GTN in it? I don't use 4k. In fact I have most of the advanced graphic features turned off. I can't truly discern the difference.
June 3, 20215 yr Moderator @Gary1124, no, just the Milviz weather radar. I use Aivlasoft’s Electronic Flight Bag on a networked PC with it occupying half of a 27” display. That suits me perfectly. Thanks I Hi, I too own the Xtremeprototypes GLJ25 as well as the Flysimware GLJ35. In my view both are excellent aircraft and both have more than enough complexity to keep any mid to advanced sim pilot engaged and happy. Best, -btacon PS...I also have the F1 GTN 750 Complete installed. Looks and works great. Edited June 3, 20215 yr by btacon

Thanks Overpriced IMHO - granted it is a great looking VC, but in all other aspects the FSW Lear 35A is far better. Upgraded from the earlier version, flew it once and then went back to the FSW 35A.. Is one flight enough to make an informed decision? Ray (Cheshire, England). Considering the new version felt little more than a nice new face on the old aircraft, yes one flight was enough to see what they had and hadn't changed. FLC (only using that to stop confusion with Auto throttle) has been implemented, but in all real respects is useless. Fuel system is still inaccurate (transfer pump just feeds from trunk tank rather than transferring). The AP on the 35 also works better in terms of LNAV arm & engagement. Not flown it since then though, but all in all graphics aside the 35 is far better... G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron
June 3, 20215 yr Moderator @Gazzareth, thanks for posting your thoughts. I was a beta tester and found the Pitch Hold very difficult. Consequently I tend to use V/S mode and manually adjust that together with manual throttle control to maintain 300kts / Mach 0.7 for the climb. I enjoy the challenge. Once at cruise I engage Mach Hold at 0.82 and it’s rock solid. What I did mention to the developers a few times was the fact that switch settings weren’t saved with either a manual save or using FSUIPC’s Autosave. They explained it was too difficult to save all the LVar variables. Other than that it’s an enjoyable aircraft to fly. Ray (Cheshire, England). Don't get me wrong, if I hadn't got the other Lear I would still be flying it I am sure. That one is the only p3d bird I have flown in last 3 months, still on the fence as whether or not to get the FMS for it. G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron

Indeed, I have a desire for a classic pre-fms business jet that has been updated with modern GNS/GTN equipment as I have seen in my researching with older Citations, Jetstars, and Lears Edited June 4, 20215 yr by Gary1124

I would love to see that implemented on Flysim's Falcon 50. I had Yannick Lavign's Falcon in FS9 and recently FSX outfitted with Simufly CIVA. Very authentic.
