June 27, 20214 yr So, I must have messed something up when I uninstalled my FS Dreamteam products as I wanted to move them to another drive. My sim works fine, except none of my other scenery shows up. I am back to a magical speedy start when I launch P3D (v4+) which is not a good sign. Funny thing is they are there in the add-on folder, and in the sim when I look up the scenery. Except they are invisible when I fly, and this includes my FSLabs aircraft. Any insight or advice is truly appreciated, as I do not look forward to reinstalling 500GB+ and P3D again. Thanks in advance for any insight. Waleed N
June 27, 20214 yr Moderator @waleed, the visibility of FS DreamTeam airports relies on couatl.exe running. If it doesn’t then none of FSDT airports will show. The easiest fix is to download Addon Manager from the FSDT download area and run it. It should fix all your problems. Check your desktop as it may already be there. Ray (Cheshire, England). June 28, 20214 yr Author Thanks Ray, but I was referring to the rest of my scenery and not FSDT scenery. I even "lost" my FSLabs aircraft as they do not show up when I go to choose an aircraft while the others like PMDG are there with no issues. Waleed N
June 28, 20214 yr All installed aircraft must have an entry in the SimObjects Airplane folder. Raymond Fry.
June 28, 20214 yr Author Not sure what I did, but I guess its a clean reinstall for me. One too many things went wrong, and I guess a clean install would be best. Its is not so bad, as it gives me the chance to use MSFS more. Waleed N
June 28, 20214 yr I think all your addons, which are added with the add-on.xml method, are not discovered and the add-on.cfg is empty. There's a Prepar3D v5 Addons folder, with all references. If this is removed, your addons are not recognized. For sceneries which are added with the scenery.cfg you can just add them again one by one. An easier approach was to install a backup or use Addon Manager from Lorby-si. OS=WIN11 Home, Sim=P3D5 5.3 (P3D4 and FSX for install reasons) Addons=ORBX, ASCA, AS, TOGA and tons of sceneries, aircraft MB=Gigabyte AORUS Z790 Elite AX, CPU=i13900K, Cooling=Be quiet! Pure Loop II FX GPU=KFA2 RTX3090 24 GB, RAM=64 GB DDR5-5600, HOTAS=Logitech G Saitek X52 Pro Visit my website for fixes and addons: https://sites.google.com/view/dans-p3d-mods
June 28, 20214 yr There are two "add-ons.cfg" files that point P3D to the folders that contain add-ons that use xml files to load. The one that both the FSLabs acft and FSDreamteam sceneries use is located in C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5 If that file is corrupted, erased, or removed, the sim will not load the scenery, even though it is still right where you installed it. You should start by looking to see if that file is still there but perhaps corrupted with something simple like a missing carriage return or similar. If it's empty, scrambled or missing, you either can restore a previous version of the .cfg file from a backup, add the entries back in manually using a utility like Lorby-SI's P3D Addon Organizer, or reinstall the add-ons. For future reference, Lorby-SI's P3D Addon Organizer has a handy one-click backup feature that will quickly save/restore the critical config files used by P3D. It's saved me from major butt pain many times. And full system backups are worth their weight in gold when these sorts of problems pop up. June 28, 20214 yr Author Thanks Bob, that is probably the issue. However, sadly I went ahead and removed all the aircraft and scenery and am starting over. I will copy your info on the files for (God Forbid) the future messes I create. I guess it is for the best as I will thin down the amount of add-ons (Too many) and hopefully not have to wait forever for the sim to load everyday. This is for the record the one part that keeps me happy. The willingness of people to help out. Thanks . Waleed N
