July 1, 20214 yr I see now in their regular Newegg Shuffle they are getting very close to Ebay prices on 3080Ti/3090, just a few hundred less than the robo-scalpers. That's it for my loyalty to Newegg going forward! July 1, 20214 yr I can't find much reason to get worked up about what amounts to notional prices on products they don't have and can't get. I wouldn't expect them to charge below-market prices in any event, just as car dealerships don't sell limited-edition and otherwise hard-to-find models at MSRP. Retailers charge the prices that the market will bear...it's basic supply-and-demand. Right now we have a perfect storm of limited supply and skyrocketing demand. Basic economics tells us that prices will be high in that situation...nothing to take personal, it's the way of the world. Never fall in love with a retailer--it's a business and regardless of how you feel about it, it won't love you back. Never fall in love with a retailer--it's a business and regardless of how you feel about it, it won't love you back. I understand your points, but these are products they do in fact get, and my assumption is manufacturers are not the ones bumping up the cost to Newegg. Newegg began offering something called Shuffle, and the idea was to essentially give a way for would-be buyers to have somewhat of an equal shot at buying an item in short supply, versus for example having to compete w/ bots on BestBuy or elsewhere when a product is 'dropped'. That sounded good, and as a means of honoring folks like myself who have bought $1000's of parts over the years. The problem for me comes in that they are almost as bad as the eBay scalpers are, and that in my mind counters anything particularly good about the Shuffle concept. Put another way, they are a big retailer who has enjoyed business income for a very long time and yet now they really are hardly any different than the scalpers are, who do not have the long history of years of business income selling parts. So I've cancelled email alerts on Shuffle events going forward. July 1, 20214 yr Their Shuffle program gives the average guy a fair shot at access where he wouldn't otherwise have it when forced to compete with the likes of scalpers running bots on the retail sites. I don't think Newegg Shuffle was ever intended or advertised as a preferred-customer discounting mechanism. If you aren't willing to pay market price for a product that's in high demand, then access is meaningless, and it's understandable that such a customer wouldn't choose to participate in the program. But for those who do understand supply and demand and are willing to buy at market prices, access is everything. I'd surmise that the severe shortage in GPU availability is also choking off their sales of other components--in that stressed environment they're really not in any position to charge less than what the market will bear, even if they wanted to (and their shareholders undoubtably wouldn't want them to). BB sells 3090 FE for $1499.00. Someone here managed to outcompete the bots twice, and I had one in the cart once, but then alas it disappeared. I'm sure BB has many of the same issues you refer to re losses of sales in peripherals as well. As stated I've help keep Newegg alives for decades won't support their version of scalping--again, they get them for wholesale prices I'm sure. July 6, 20214 yr I am now flying a back course approach (or reverse course) on Newegg. Here was an "open box" item 30 minutes ago. It is gone already. And the price for the everyday "sold-out" product listing at Newegg (matching model #, not open box) is $1,079. July 6, 20214 yr Strange multiple posts. No idea what took place. Help. Would a forum administrator jump in and delete these. Every time I attempt to edit out content in an unintended duplicate it posts another unwanted duplicate. Very strange! At one time I was seeing (5) duplicates. July 7, 20214 yr They're referred to as "ScalpEgg" in a couple online communities. It's easy to see why. They'll never get a dime of my business going forward. July 7, 20214 yr I always stay a video card model behind. I bought the 2080 TI from New Egg last August. They dropped prices to clear inventory for the 3080. I guess they didn’t anticipate the demand and raw material shortages for them. I ordered that morning and New Egg dropped the price of the 2080ti within 5 minutes of ordering. They wouldn’t honor the new price. I ended up having to message New Egg’s CEO on Linked In and I was able to get it at the lower price. Now all their 2080ti cards are over $2000.
